Arkansas can be really good or they can struggle. I don’t think we match up well with them.

Vandy as well can really good or struggle . I think we match up better with them.

With both games away, I expect Ls. We shall see.

I feel better about Vandy than Arkansas. They can shoot better than we can and are more athletic. Not a great combination to go against. Cal probably goes up 2-0 on Pope since the change

Those games are indeed a lithmus test as we really don't have any idea how good for bad we really are. A split with us being competetive in the one we lose would be nice.

This is all so true. Like every last word. I’d say even if we go 0-2, if they’re close I’d be somewhat encouraged. Like you said though, getting one and being in the other would be a success in my mind.

LSU darn near beat Arkansas today in Fayetteville. Just think about that a second.
Then, ask again.
Dedan Thomas makes LSU a different team. He is very good. We didn't have to play against him in our last second game winner.

I knew that was coming. We’ve had three starters out all year.
JQ is not one that I ever counted on to be a true team member. I am guessing Pope knew up front that JQ contributing solid, consistent minutes would be a miracle.
Lowe is a big miss for us. I don't think he is Dedan Thomas good but he was the best we had. You are definitely right about him.
Kam had some big shots lately but he also went games without seeing quality time. He will be missed though.

Although I hate to lose to Cal it doesn’t bother me and it shouldn’t to our fan base. No matter what team he will have for the remainder of his coaching career most fans know he will never win another natty. That being said he has no business being at UK. It takes a good Xs and 0s coach to win it unless you have an Anthony Davis. Just look how he lost to Wis when he had the perfect season - 100% lack of coaching. Wished he had left after that lost.

I’d be ecstatic to win both, will take a split, and am fearing 0-2.

Our ability compete with Arkansas will depend on defensive rebounding and whether Arkansas is making jump shots.

Vandy will be tough. Pope struggles with high powered offensive teams. Bama just owns him.

We need Arkansas to be cold from the outside. Otherwise that one will be really tough too.

Vandy will be the better chance at a W I think.
Arkansas is undefeated at home, the crowd will be rabid and Cal will have them fired up for UK. I could see that one getting away from us unfortunately.
I will be shocked and thrilled with 2-0. Happy with 1-1. Disappointed, but not surprised by 0-2.

I think we beat Vandy. I figured them to be a paper tiger before SEC play began due to their weak OOC schedule. A win Tuesday will likely knocked them out of the top 25 for good.

Arkansas will be tough. They have the talent gap that has been our Achilles heal in most of our losses.

Seems to be a trend, we play awful for a few games then something happens, and we win a few to 'make up' for it. Sure, it sounds great that we have won 5 in row, however all 5 of those teams have a losing record in conference play. I'd love to see us win 1 of the next 2 games (preferably Arkansas) - however I would not be surprised to see 10+ point losses - both being different teams than what we have played so far and also away games.
The five teams we've beaten on our current win streak also have a combined 8 wins over Top-40 NET SEC teams. There is no dominant team in the SEC this season and everyone is beating everyone. Yes, we will be competitive.

I think we’ll lose most of our remaining road games. Just win out at home and we’ll be fine.

This team beats middling/bad teams and you got guys on here, saying extend Pope, 40-0, we've arrived, warm up the bus. If we lose to Vandy and Arky, it will yet again, be fools gold. Just like the IU and St Johns wins were. Win these games and we have officially turned the corner. And Pope deserves praise for doing it.

Everything you just said is bull crap.

Edit: when I posted your last two sentences weren't there. Regardless nobody is making those statements.

Vandy and Arkansas are two of the top teams in the SEC. Extremely tough road environments, both games on the road. Without 3 of our best 7 players, ostensibly, I assume, for the remainder of the season, many would see this as an unwinnable stretch over the next two games.

I wouldn't be so quick to write this team off in either case. The thread asked : "will we be competitive with them?"

Oh yes, bet on that. These guys have learned what it's like when the opponents smell blood in the water. They know and understand, now, how much harder and intense it is, and the sheer effort that is expended against them - especially on the road. We have to go into places where they absolutely hate us, curse us, and disprespect us right back outta the joint. "Whatever it takes" for them to win the game when the circus comes to town.... Am I not right ? They hate us with an irrational hatred I honestly cannot understand completely.

And after getting our asses handed to us in games, underperformed and been outhustled, outplayed, outcoached, this team, over the past 5 games at least, have held fast to the belief that they will keep fighting in every game and if they get behind, keep on giving 110%, or they will get blown out and embarrassed. But they also believe in themselves, and that they can do what it takes over the course of a game, to get back in it, and win.

God bless them and CMP. Overcoming adversity and reaching deep down inside can lead an ordinary person to greatness. You don't truly become great until you overcome YOURSELF. I know it in ways most people will never know or understand. Conquering brain cancer and the resultant tumor ( long may it remain gone ) 28 years ago, and a broken back 17 years ago - spending 7 of the last 10 years in a wheelchair before utterly changing everything in my life to finally stand - and walk - again ....

is proof positive that miracles can and do happen. And it starts INSIDE.

I like to think our Cats' are learning some of the hard lessons, but in a very different way, to realize that dreams never die - only when you give up on them do you ever really LOSE. And here at Kentucky, we have the expectation whenever, and with WHOMever we are playing against, that we are going to win the game. Period. So screw the 0-2 talk. Piss on the idea of getting blown out and not even being COMPETITIVE when we play. Jesus. Some of you all need to grow a pair of balls and/or get your panties outta yer' buttcrack. We're going to Nashville and Fayetteville and winning the damn games.

Don't give up or give in, my Big Blue brothers and sisters ! Pass it on !

Go Big Blue !
