As for as I know, no official schedule has been released, I think we all have seen models of the future schedule some coincide, some dont. Right now its all speculation, but I also heard that something official will be released soon, maybe by end of March.

Heck we need to just start realizing we are going to lace them up and play against 1 of 15 others for 9 or 10 games a year in the SEC. Our luck will be every time we change teams we will get them on an up year. So lace them up, pull for the team and lets see what our boys in BLUE can do.

I'm all for and expanded conference and schedule where we cycle through teams more often.

The old conferences and their worn-out schedules were getting stale. Everyone knows it. Infuse a couple big brand programs and tweak the schedule to where everyone is playing one another more often...things are about to take off.

It's great for the program to be able to play in Texas in front of Texas talent and maybe establish some recruiting connections. There's a lot of 3-star talent in Texas that would be 4 and 5 stars in most other states.

Bringing Sooner fans and Long Horn fans into Lexington for football, basketball, baseball...that's huge for the town.

Softball hosted sooners last year. You wouldn't believe how they showed up...you'd have thought the pope was in town. I know they were #1 and have a great softball program...but damn it was insane...that on a football scale, whoa nelly...

Cycling through LSU, Bama, Auburn etc and having them in town more often will be great as well.

As an aside, the replies in this thread are a good example of how much more reasonable this board can be compared to the basketball board.

And while I understand that some may take that as me knocking the basketball side of things, that’s not my intent.

My intent was more to just reiterate my firm belief that UK football fans are among the best and most underrated fans in all of sports. For whatever that’s worth.

We have to play them there once every 4 years. They will have to play in Lexington once every 4 years. The schedule should be fairly balanced for all teams as long as they make the 3 permanent rivals fair for each programs level.

I'm all for a fair and set schedule in conference. I am curious what will happen with the other sports too.

SEC is all about getting multiple teams in the playoff, so I don't the program ranking in the conference will even be factored into the process. SEC has never looked for parity, watching how games are officiated should show that to anyone.

While we are at it can we please play Tenn/Vandy sometime other than November and Florida sometime other than September??? It's tired and old as well. Florida needs to get their azz up here for a game in a freezer sometime.

I was just joking but we went to A&M they never returned the game.
Yeah.

We were “scheduled” to get a return visit in 2028, IIRC.

Honestly, I kind of like the 3/6/6 model, as it will allow us to see, at a minimum, every team in the SEC at least once every four years.

It’s so simple, even Hoover can’t screw it up (and I kind of expect them to back-track on the whole idea, as I can see no particular advantage for Alabama).

Even if we drop U of L, nobody should complain about our home schedule: we will likely host from three to six opponents, annually, who have won a National Championship since 1997, and the beginning of the BCS.

They need to experience football in it’s traditional setting: frost on the Ole’ pumpkin. . . . Woooha, Nellie.

Honestly, Notre Dame might be the only FBS team/program that could say “no,” and still profit, thereby.

I will I miss the Golden Dome Yanks?

Oh, hell, no!!
Yep. And time may change that. In college football the SEC is really all that matters.
I've heard some rumblings that Oklahoma is waffling a bit on the on the conference switch. They need to look to the future and not the past.
I once doubted Stoops and I apologize. He's building us for this. I never thought we would be in this position in football. I remember the one and two win seasons. Now we are routinely beating teams like Penn State in bowl games.

Frankly, you are absolutely correct, but it’s kind of odd hearing the truth from someone who is a fan of one of the historic “haves” in the SEC.

Many will disagree with me, but I think I have seen UK get a favorable whistle in a lot of close basketball games, because UK is “supposed” to win in the SEC.

Yes, Higgins and a couple of others have noticeably screwed us in round-ball, but by-and-large . . . .

Yes.

His program building is like pouring concrete.

It takes a while to set up and harden to full strength, but given time . . . .

I would agree from years back but I just haven’t seen it the last few years.

You don't know what bad calls are. After entire UF game that UGA ran on the field and danced, we didn't get a call for years. It was so bad we would get 150 yards of penalties and other team would get 10. That crew finally retired, but it was the one that let AU hit Murrzy late the entire game.

Frankly, with the exception of the PAC 12 officials who tossed Bennie in the MCB in 2016, I have few specific complaints the last few years.

And we got a pretty big payback against Mississippi State in 2018. State had backed themselves into a 3rd and 40 in the third Q, and unleashed a Hail Mary-type pass. A referee threw a flag on us for pass interference, but it got picked up quickly without explaination. The replay showed contact and the ball was catchable?!?!?!

Expansion frightens every school, and expansion frightens some of our fans. But expansion is inevitable because bigger, stronger conferences hold negotiating leverage with networks. This is big bucks.

If it were up to me, I'd definitely schedule a bit more strategically. Now, I'm not sure athletic brass can do a whole lot because conference and TV dictate most of the scheduling, I think.

However, if there was some wiggle room, I'd bump UL and a late October early November sec game to September.

This does a few things. First, the home opener should be a big event and sell out. It's good for the fans, team, and game in general to kick off the season with full stadiums and great atmospheres.

Second, the team needs to play a couple competitive game early on and good TV slots as well.

Specifically, Kentucky whose football brand isn't as big...we basically handicap ourselves every year because nobody sees us play until about October. Our first 3 games are always home vs Lake Erie region tech schools.

Limiting exposure hurts recruiting. Competitively, we go in the hole as well because for the first month the team isn't really getting a whole lot.

Then October rolls around, finally we get a TV game vs a decent SEC opponent, everyone is watching...thud...we're not in OOC Kansas anymore. We get popped.

Then, there's the inevitable murderer's row that comes every season. Why not, break it up? This is where the OOC can actually serve a purpose across all college football. Break up the home stretch and maybe rest some players at practice and even load manage how much they play with a couple Tech St South West Central North East schools during that mid October to mid November run?

IMO the SEC should start play the weekend before Labor Day. All 16, playing 8 conference games, true on campus road games. And spread them out all weekend on the ESPN/ABC channels, since they own it all. Obviously no rivalry traditional games, save those for Oct/Nov. Make it fair, alternate playing road & home each season.

Thurs night 8 pm
Fri night 8 pm
Sat noon, 4, 8
Sun 4 & 8
Mon 8 pm

Then everyone can have 2 bye weeks later on, not just 1. Who says no? The ncaa doesn't matter, has no teeth. If the SEC & ESPN says we are doing it, then it happens.
