As a precursor to the prediction thread, lets see what percentage of "Mississippi State Fans" think we WILL beat Bama on Saturday....
This is the only game left on our schedule that could be classified as a big upset and I firmly believe we shock the world(or maybe just the BCS and/or SEC officials) Saturday.</p>
we have been so close so many times this year, I just have a feeling we finally get the one we are due for this week.
I think we can keep it close but we had a hard time moving the ball against one elite defense already this year (Florida). Against another elite defense, I think we'll have another tough time moving the ball and putting points on the board (unless the D or special teams can do it).
And that's not to mention the fact that we're playing both Alabama and the refs.

now that Bama has clinched the West and will be playing FL in ATL, I could see this being something of a nothing to play for type game. They can lose our game and still win the SEC Champ game to play for the national title. The other two games on their schedule are UTC and AU. UTC is a no brainer and UA people always get up to beat AU. With that being said I think they still beat us but the stars are aligned for a decent fight. If we can be in this game going into the fourth I'll be happy.

There are several reasons Bama will skull drag us up and down the field Saturday:
1) our offense (starring mini lee) against their D = we couldn't put the ball in the 'zone against Florida, Bama will be tougher
2) big game after a week off generally means disaster. seen it tooooo many times before
3) special teams still sux, not a good thing against a team like Bama
4) dawgs' run D can be very good or very poor ....which one will show up Saturday?
5) the injun curse is still alive and well at DWS, usually manifest itself through living beings such as refs....
6) and finally, we are M-State. Nuff said.

We have beaten them six of the last thirteen games . For what ever reason we can play with those *** Holes. They are good and they have a good coach but it's not like they have beaten the **** out of everyone. They win but they win close and they win with a little help from the Ref's.

Us winning usually depends on Dixon having a good game.....dixon has played only 1 team with a top 40 rushing defense: Florida........we lost by ten and it could have been worse, and he didnt do worth a ****....

You are right. We are going to get "skull dragged" because we are Mississippi State.
Maybe we should just jettison the football program while we are at it. I can live with the "woe is me, I am a Mississippi State fan" attitude when something bad happens with unusually bad timing (like the AJ deal, Pegues suspended and Chaney getting hurt in the first game last year, prized recruits getting shot, etc.). That is just bad luck. Bad luck happens and sometimes it makes you feel a little cursed.
However, preemptively picking a loss and naming the fact that "We are MSU" as one of your "factors" is lame. Almost as lame as you ending your post with "Nuff said."

Usually they take a Donnie Ingram approach and truly feel "Bama's gonna win." But this game is different. I was browsing TideFans.com (sunshine pumper champions) and ran across a very nervous thread. It's nothing earth-shattering, but after reading it, my wool grew a good three inches.

Sure, State can win this weekend but you have to admit that our football history (not just the last 20, but the last 100 years, except 1941) does not lend itself to the warm and fuzzys, thus the ole "we're MState" is still hanging around. Maybe Mullen can make it vanish from our collective minds.
I think something amazing will happen and we will win. I am probably just dreaming about a special teams TD or 2 and a good day for AD. that and i hope the indians will have mercy on us cause bama people were bad to them first. Hey we par take in the fire water!
I think it will be on OFFENSE. I am calling a deep ball to Marcus Green. He has been pretty quiet as of late I think has a td of 30+ yards.
