Will we have an OC by signing day?

Beamer said he would work to have someone in place very shortly after the Clemson game. Hopefully it's not a liability for us with the early signing day tomorrow and not having an OC, unless it gets done today. There was smoke for the guy from ECU, but now it's reported that Ole Miss might want him back.

I have less than zero hope that we will....... But hey, you know, our next OC may be coaching in a CFP game for all we know!

I'll make it easy. No.

PS. Shane is sloooooow at making decisions. He should have fired Shula after the SC State game. It was obvious something was horribly wrong then.
You've got that right. It was apparent in the bowl game that something clearly was off. Sellers had already begun to regress and looked nothing like he did in the Clemson game. Shula had no business getting that job to begin with.

Crazy thing is Beamer said he consulted with Sellers when he hired Shula.

Sellers also advocated for Furrey after the Clemson game.

Two things are clear: 1. Sellers is as bad at identifying OC talent as Beamer is and 2. Head coaches should not consult players about who they want on staff.

Maybe it's more common that I know, but I find it VERY hard to believe that Saban consulted with players before he made hires. Why would you, especially in this day and age? Why would make a hopefully long-term decision on the advice of someone who is transient to the program?

I think it says a lot about Beamer and his confidence in his decisions that he consulted a player about who to hire as OC. A legit coach knows players are very temporary parts of a program. Making what could be long term staff decisions based on the input of players is foolish.

I doubt Saban, Day, Kirby, Kiffin or DeBoer consult with players about who they should hire as coordinators.

What are you talking about? He has an OC. He will do the easy thing and give that guy a chance.

Unless its Furrey, then no. And the longer this goes withouth other names then the odds continue to increase that it will be Furrey.

Kentucky fired their head coach and hired a high-quality replacement than 24 hours. That this is taking so long tells me there is limited interest in the position.

Yes, if we're being honest, we all sensed something was very wrong after the bowl game. I think most of us wrote off our misgivings because bowl games can be weird and Shula had only been with the program about three weeks. But in retrospect, the fact that we only put up 17 points against a fairly pedestrian Illinois team was a harbinger of things to come. Also, the fact that our offense was repeatedly caught off-guard by Beliema's defensive substitution strategy was a strong indicator that our offense was mismanaged.

So, no OC by signing day and we lost our QB recruit to LSU (if this holds).
