Williams is a much better player today than Johnson ever showed last year. How do recruiting services miss that badly?

JJ will have spurts where he’ll go off for 10-12 pts in a short time frame. He’ll probably do it a few times this year. But, Mason’s game is already more advanced.

I don’t know if Mason skipped the summer ball circuit or just didn’t play in the top leagues. His game is more advanced than his HS ranking.

I wasn’t overly impressed with Zoom or Wilkins tonight. We’ll see what they look like in coming weeks.

Mason appears to be solid and dependable, which is what you want in a backup. He gave me some Anthony Epps vibes in his first couple of years. Mason seems to have more offensive skills at this point. Whatever happens, he won’t get bullied.

Williams should start and I don't think it's close. "Serviceable backup" is a huge underestimation. He looked like the best player on the court a lot of the night. That's somewhat a knock on the rest of the team, but mostly a compliment to Williams. Much better than advertised. I just hope that if he does move into a starting position, it doesn't cause locker room problems.

Agreed. Williams was the only guy tonight that put a smile on my face. I think he’s gonna be better than expected.

He may eventually even end up snatching zoom’s starting spot.

I think he very possibly could be the starter by conference play.Hopefully if that happens the lockeroom stays good.

Mason Williams played a better PG as a Freshman in a scrimmage game than Wagner did 3 years ago at the end of his freshman season. But for some reason Wagner was still starting at point for that team.
