So looks like we can finally move on. These two should and apparently might be the next on the list. They are the best offensive coordinators in the country (and that ain't too shabby).

Mullen, is young (36), energetic, familiar with the area and runs an innovative offense. Seems to fit all of Byrne's requirements.

Wilson - 54 ppg, coached a freshman QB to lead the nation in passer efficiency, could probably make a hell of a sell to Russell/Patterson, obviously known for a high powered offense.

Mullen like to keep the ball in the QB's hands, while Wilson likes to sling it around. You don't see Bradford rushing 15 times a game.

I was looking at Alex Smith's numbers his senior year - 2200 passing yds and 450 rushing yards. They're both fabulous coordinators, no doubt.

Tebow do.

Wilson's offense probably does fit Russell better, but at the same time Russell isn't as slow as he's made out to be. He has Matt Jones speed. I hope that's not from cocaine.

From Matt Jones' wiki page: At the NFL Combine, Jones, measured in at 6' 6" tall, and 242 pounds and recorded scores during the tests that showed speed and explosive ability that had not been seen before in a player of his size. These scores earned him the nickname "The Freak" from the coaches and athletes in attendance. These scores included being timed between 4.37 and 4.40 seconds in the 40-yard dash, a 39.5" vertical jump, and a 10' 9" broad jump.

I'm going with Wilson, he has been a coordinator longer and has been sucessful at every school he has been at. I'm not sure how involved Meyer is with Florida's offense. Wilson is running the show at OU and it is a damn fine show to watch

He looked pretty slow to me last friday night...
I expected him to be a lot faster. It's not that he was slow, but that he wasn't Quick.... what would that word be??? i guess Sluggish?

I also will attribute part of it to his Long-*** legs... i do think that he is faster than he looks because of his height. So maybe in the open field he would be much faster.

He MIGHT run a 4.6. I would lean more to the 4.7 neighborhood.
Yea I hear you, didn't look very quick Friday night. Speeds are like heights and weights, they sometimes fudge them a bit.

edited to add Rivals shows 4.89

Yea 4.8 sounds about right. I would be willing to bet he will be able to run 4.7 to 4.6 by the time he gets out of college.

Still the guy is a pocket passer. Pure and simple.

but when Matt Jones ran, it looked like he was running a 5.0 40 yard time in person.

I'm not saying that Russell can run a 4.3, just that he's faster than he looks.

Here's why: I truely don't care which one we hired because they both seem to be 2 of the best OC's in the nation. I think we'll hire Mullen because it's close to Mullet and Gene would think that was common ground and again would have his "in" in the MSU AD.

***PRE-FLAME DISCLAIMER***

He still has a world of potential.

He's still the best we're recruiting this year, and in recent memory.

He may end up being the best QB we've ever had at MSU, so I still want him to sign.

I'm just saying, he isn't going to step in on day one and be Tim Tebow, Dan Marino, or maybe even Sam Bradford, so I request that everyone settle down just a little on the hype. You're setting your expectations too high... which seems to be a running theme these days.
