Final 8. Nadal and Fed on one side and Djokovic on the other.

Fed 20, Nadal 18, Djokovic 15.

Imo, the winner of this event, if it is any of the three, will be the man who ends up with the most tennis grand slams ever.

Enjoy.

Should be a good final 8. All 3 great players. Still go with Federer.

All time favorite for me is Bjorn Borg.

Plus Mac is named dropped in one of my all time favorite rap lyrics.

I'll serve your *** like John McEnroe
If your girl steps up, I'm smacking the hoe

Had these guys not intersected the same era, they could have 30+ majors each. It’s amazing that they’ve all been able to win so many crossing each other’s primes (and yes I know Fed is a little older.)

Nadal to me is a little too clay reliant (66% of his majors are at the French.)

I’d put my money on apex Sampras vs apex anyone else at Wimbledon.

For the time being, Fed is GOAT but Djoker could catch him.

Currently....Nadal then Fed. The overall depth in this era is severely lacking.

All time since I have been watching....Sampras, Agassi, Nadal, Fed, Borg.

I don't think depth is a problem - the problem is that Nadal is basically unbeatable on clay, and Fed and Djoker are miles better than anyone else. There are lots of good players, but no 3 guys have ever been this good at once.

I'd absolutely drop a couple hundo on apex Sampras against apex anybody at Wimbledon.

Yeah - dude was insane on grass. He covered the ground from the baseline to the net so quickly after his serve, it was nearly impossible to break him.

If you want to factor #1 rankings into it, Nadal lags pretty far behind.

Weeks at #1

Fed 310
Djokovic 259
Nadal 196

This isn’t really surprising given the much more balanced dominance of Fed and Djoker on multiple surfaces compared with Rafa being a clay court specialist.

Federer is better than sampras. I hate to admit it -- i can't stand the guy -- but he's the best ever. Agassi is my most favorite ever. Always thought there was an element of the underdog with him.

Agree that Fed is GOAT. I’d still take peak Pete on grass over peak Fed.

Roger Federer is still playing extremely elite tennis at almost 38 years old. Has won on every surface consistently though obviously behind Nadal on clay. I don’t see how you can put Nadal above Federer all time, he’s breaking down at a much younger age and has largely dominated on clay only. Djokovic has time to pass Roger and has the body to play to a much older age. Roger hands down is the GOAT, with Djok being the only one in the foreseeable future that could catch him, regardless of what happens at Wimbledon.

Meanwhile, Serena is playing in the semifinals tomorrow for a shot at Margaret Court's record. I know she's not as good as the men players by a LOT, but she's the best women's player ever, and it's not even close. 20 years after she won her first Slam at the US Open.

I had to chuckle when McEnroe was asked if Serena was the best tennis player ever and he rightly said no. When the interviewer asked him that question, I knew what his answer would be and hoped he wouldn't be shamed on social media. I think it's a lesson to say what you believe and not be cowed into an incorrect position.

It's a biological issue, not a political issue.

Serena is the best women's tennis player ever. Graf is close. Fed is the best men's player ever. There are multiple guys that are close. Whether you don't like Serena because she is black or built like a brick *********, if you deny her greatness you might as well stop paying attention to tennis. She's fantastic.

The question of men vs. women is a different conversation. Obviously, Gretzky is a better hockey player than Hayley Wickenheiser. If you're of the belief that women should compete against men, it's very clear that no woman can hold a candle to her counterpart male. Serena has destroyed every woman in her path, even after having a child. If you choose not to give her credit for that, it means you don't watch women's sports, which is fine.

Interesting.

If I slighted Serena in my post, I would apologise for said slight.

I didn't. But you assumed that I did.

I, too believe Serena to be the greatest female player ever. But because I didn't explicitly say so you made an assumption about me and my beliefs.

I was commenting on the position McEnroe was put in by his interviewer.

You agreed with the biological aspects of my comment. I'm still perplexed at your response to me.

I've probably spent too much time in the political thread. My apologies for misunderstanding your point. I agree with McEnroe FWIW.

It’s not Nadal. I don’t think he’s won enough Grand Slam events away from clay.

Djokovic is 6 years younger close to 6 years younger than Federer, so he’s going to have a lot of time to surpass him.

Federer is not only my favorite all time tennis player, he’s also one of my favorite athletes ever.

Something crawl up your womb and do your reading and posting for you, or is this an everyday thing? Yes, Sorena is the best broad. Would have won less in Graf's and Seles' pre-stabbing days, but would still have been the best. And likely would have become even more frequently enraged, smashing equipment like a gorilla in a Samsonite commercial (literally, not racially unless you took it that way, your fault if so), threatening to kill people, and then child-lessly shying away from her behavior while her elegant big sister looks silently on in shame. Those are the most fantastic things Sorena does.

The game Sampras played is very different from today's game. Almost no one serves and volleys anymore. They play baseline, creating angles and then come in only to finish a point when they get a short ball or have a great angle for a winner. The spin and power today's players are able to play with (probably due to better equipment) has changed the game somewhat. Sampras was an all-time great but I think, in his prime, Fed is the better player. As someone else mentioned, Laver is probably the GOAT. If not for pro/amateur rules during his prime, he surely could have won 25 or more GS events. Won all 4 before his 6 year exile, then won all 4 again the second year he was allowed to play. He missed 24 GS events. He could have easily won half of them during that span. That would have put him at 23 and it's not a stretch to believe he would've surpassed 25 by winning another couple during that period.

Agassi at #2 ahead of both Fed & Nadal :joy: - UKO's clown show never ends.

Don't mind KRJ1975. He is a decent poster but he's a bipolar Canuck whose lefty-ness blinds him at times. That's a train wreck of a combo, eh?
It is (that combo).. I've enjoyed several of sorena's matches through the years. Some where she won and lost. Her advantage is simply the amazing combination of strength and longevity. The only player I saw who could come close to matching her in strength was Capriati, during that brief period when she was able to maintain a peak fitness to go with it. The brutal showdown between the two in the Australian open heat. One of the most courageous performances I've witnessed by two players on a tennis court. Thinking Capriati won (a finals maybe it was), but not sure. Long ago already. Watching it, viewers were more likely to doubt either could finish. Somehow, both did.
