Hate that Federer lost. Made such a good comeback only to come up short. May have been his last chance at one more major win. But 17 in his pocket, so he can't be too unhappy.

17 is right. The match had epic written all over it.

I never really liked Federer until he wasn't on top any more.

I'm kind of that way. Gets old seeing the same one dominate for a long period of time. But I kind of like the old guy story too. Old champ trying to muster up one more win late in his career.

I'm thrilled he lost. Federer is a prick. I'll never forget him showing up to the Wimbledon Final against Roddick when he was trying to break Sampras' record of 16 majors. He showed up with shirts and a racket bag with 17 plastered all over it, like it was just inevitable that he would break the record that day. I thought it was pretty low class and showed Roddick up.

You have that completely backwards. Trust me, I've dealt with both (and partied with Roddick, pre-Decker, unfortunately). Although I never got the Mr Rogers routine at Wimbledon, I'm sure Nike had a little something to do with that.

No clue on Roddick

They're probably all full of themselves. He could be an even bigger jerk. It just seemed like grandstanding to me to show up with all that gear just assuming the outcome would be a victory by him.

Except his W over Roddick in 2009 was his 15th Major W. Not 17th

He currently has 17 Major titles, though, and you obviously currently know what you're talking about.

And I guarantee you that was Nike's call, not his. The almighty $.

I got turned around

He's won 17 majors to date. Sampras won 14 majors. The record breaker was Federer's 15th major when he beat Roddick in the '09 Final. So it was a 15 that plastered all over his apparel prior to the match. Regardless, I thought it was pretty insulting to do that to your competition. If I remember right, he didn't use that stuff for the whole tournament. He just showed up to the Final with all of it.

I think that was the year Roddick played over his head

I think he took Federer to 5 sets and played multiple extra games to decide it. I so wanted Roddick to make him have to walk off the court and carry all his 15 Apparel off in shame. Kind of like all the times I had to carry a broom back to the car from DNF after dropping a Sunday Game 3.

Fed didn't break out the 15 gear until after he had won. He did wear some obnoxious military looking warm up gear, but the 15 only came out after the win.

I think you're right about that. I like Federer a lot. He's a class guy and has been a great champion. But the **** he wears (at Wimbledon especially) is just ridiculous.

Nike does all of that, he really just wears what they give him. Wouldn't you.. $$

I was really wanting Federer to win, but he was just our powered yesterday. What a great match...
