I'm glad you labeled this window shopping... cause you just did the equivalent of being a homeless man walking through the most expensive mall in America. We ain't getting ANYONE on that list.

Because of our budgeting constraints (that hopefully get better soon), we'll have to make "up-and-coming" hires for the coordinator/position coach roles. Think Manny Diaz. Think Geoff Collins. These are guys that hardly anyone had heard of at the time of their hiring.

You right MO-dawg (got it right this time). We can't outpay SMU, Memphis, Kentucky - nor the person who took early retirement.**

I'll be the first admit I stopped looking at the profiles once I got down to Manny Diaz. We're not getting WVU's OC, Oregon's OC, TN's ex-OC, a current head coach, nor Manny Diaz from Texas.

I also have a hard time thinking we'll get the Stanford or Louisville guy either... considering as we don't have a spot for those two.

But the two special teams guys might be options, especially Shibest. If he can recruit, I would be for pursuing him and dropping Sallach and moving Mullen off of special teams to playcaller.

My main contention was that Koenning not be invited back. If that spot is available, can we lure another successful OC away from another school?

Those non-coordinators that I mentioned, most of them have a good reputation for recruiting. If we're bringing in someone as an assistant only, we'd better make sure that they can recruit.

Diaz is not the most popular mean in Texas at the moment. So he's not out of the question, no matter how unlikely it may be. He was just a name to throw out there.
