Back in the real football days, when you had a 2-8 season you turned your equipment in the following day. Also, you could finish 8-2 and pack your equipment up too. You didn't win a region/conference championship so no playoffs.

Story of my senior year. We finished 8-2 and didn’t make the playoffs.

Public schools play off is not better. They have fourth place district teams with losing records get into the play off.

Mais is stupid. Participation trophy playoffs. That whole system needs to be revamped. Keep trying to make things fair and made it worse. Need to dissolve mais

FWIW, I went to a private school playoff game last week that some relatives were in. The subject of this came up, and the parents of the players that I was talking to know how ridiculous it is, but have no power to change it. The teams I was watching did have very good seasons, however.

Man, we went 3-7, 3 years in a row in MPSA. We'd have been a playoff team in today's world and we absolutely sucked. I'm going to retroactively claim playoff appearances though like college teams do with natty's

They were all good losses

or in our case here, "moral victories". We don't want to be negative on this board and hurt the feelings of the Lebby supporters who want to give him another couple years to learn on the job..............

I get 4th place out of 8 teams. A few of those 4th place teams beat 1st place teams last week - highlighted by Neshoba over South Panola.

But 4th place out of 4 teams should not be making playoffs.

Its all about money - more playoff games = more money for the MAIS/MHSAA that gets a percentage of the gate for all playoff games and all of the gate for championship games.

They should go to smaller districts and only district champions make it the way Texas used to do it - now Texas public schools have 4 playoff teams from each district with a crazy Division I/Division II model in each class.

The MHSAA isn't much better. There are some classes where you don't have to win a game to make the playoffs. The root of it in the MHSAA is too many classes.

Blame forced integration. I do not mean this in any political way at all. The fact is, forced integration is still being paid for in 2025. Both associations are paying for it with this silly crap.

MAIS went full blown retard in the Leake/TriCounty championship game. They allowed a review, and not just a review of a flag(one wasn't thrown), but a review of a holding call that wasn't even called. Then they threw a flag. Talk about a joke of an organization lol!

If non-called holding is reviewable then the only way any team will ever score is by safety. Holding happens on literally every play.

Learning on the job at Mississippi State is responsible for 6 of Minnesota’s 7 national championships
I'll be at the game next year with a sign tailgating:

"You took our Beirman and got 6 Natties.
Donate Natties here to return the favor.
Southerners like Beer, man."

Or something to that effect
