Keuter is by far the most overrated Hawkeye of all time. The sooner his eligibility runs out the better. He's almost done with his 3rd year of his 5 and he's absolutely regressed. He's a 197 not a heavyweight. Everyone is hurt in this sport but a lot of people give him a pass about his "injuries". Bring on Mocco as it's time for a change. And his $500K plus that Bob pays him will be better served paying multiple weights than him always being a "small" American.
You're a fuggin moron. I really hope no current athletes or recruits read this cesspool bullchit where you cry like a little pvssy cause someone didnt win by enough to make your fat azz happy from your couch... I promise most fans arent this pathetic to any athlete or recruit that looks at these boards ,, some adults just shouldn't have access to the internet

I appreciate Ms. K defending her son. I'd prefer that she didn't call people a-holes while complaining about message board disrespect. Can't have it both ways.

She implied that only D1 wrestlers should be able to critique Ben's performance. Here's what 2x NCAA champ Ironside had to say:

"Gotta get into some scrambles."
"Keep your hands and feet moving. Really up your pace."
"Can't just be hanging out."
"Not creating enough action."
"Try to get some angles. He's just wrestling straight on. He has to get a shot fired off, he's gonna get dinged for stalling."
"He can't just stand around, collar tie and not pull the trigger."

All spot on, with as much tact as an Iowa-affiliated radio commentator can muster.

Based on Ben's tongue-wagging at the end of the match, he apparently didn't agree with that assessment of his performance. That is unfortunate for what it says about his mindset and his coaching. He's ranked #5, for God's sake. He should not even be celebrating a victory over #9, particularly in SV, and particularly one in which he didn't take a single shot in regulation. That tells me he thinks he should be ranked #10 and he had to slow the pace down and get to SV to beat that guy. He has the talent and speed and scrambling ability to major that guy. He would've majored this guy had he done what Ironside was pleading with him to do. He has so much talent, and for whatever reason, he's not fully leveraging it. And he's not the only one on the team, which points to a broader coaching failure.

Message boards are harsh. If I met Ms. K in person, I'd say hello and wish her well and wish Ben well. I appreciate his talent and want him to succeed, and most of all I want the program to succeed. But...we're here to discuss wrestling, and what makes the board valuable is having fans speak their mind without concern for whose parent is reading the comments. That also makes it a cesspool, of course. But that's the tradeoff.
The clown she was replying to wasn't critiquing or doing anything other then talking chit cause an athlete didnt win by enough to please his TV time, he wasnt discussing wrestling, more of crying and ranting

Ouch! 🤣🤣🤣 Did Ben piss in your cereal or something? Holy buckets! I know YOU were likely a D-1 athlete dedicating about 5 hours a day to your training and S&C and the other part of the day concentrating on eating to get big in a healthy way. Oh and managing to get good grades. So, thank you for your awesome “thoughts” and perspective. I would be more than happy to chat about it in person at the Penn State dual?
Dang it! I wasn’t reading this **** but this one made the “mom group chat”.
And now I am going to be in “family” jail for responding. 🤣 Thanks a lot ahole!

The post I am referencing was not critique, it was derogatory. And now you want to critique how he celebrates? He has been hurt and unable to compete, he was just happy to feel good and win. Ironside also said some really great things about him and didn’t call him overrated and out for a bag and can’t wait until he is gone, big difference from what that AHOLE posted.

Do you ever expect anybody to take you seriously again when you think Ben can make 197? Please explain what weight loss regimen you would use listing the dietary needs. I’m guessing you’re probably 5 foot three.

I know he does. He's been hurt and badly coached. Kids a stud but a bit broken on how it should look. Ben is stiill the future. Still a tiger even though it doesn't seem like it. I hope he stays here. Because honestly the PSU room is better for his style. That's so pathetic to say
Let’s be honest. Any room with a different coaching staff and RTC would be a better room for him. Could you imagine what he could do in Minny?? I’m not complaining. I get we are not getting a change but I’m also not going to pretend anymore that this coaching staff has any answers at all. The whole team just seems to be cashing checks and for that I feel real bad for Bob. You are the guy that gives us hope and it’s the hope that kills…

holy **** I’m sad now

Put down the whiskey and step away from the bar
Even funnier is someone mentioned BK not being completely healthy and yet there's discussion of him playing two sports???
LOL.

Remember...these aren't kids and they're not amateur athletes anymore.
We can criticize and scrutinize all we want.
Honest analysis might hurt a few feelings, but tough shiit.
You'd have to be blind to not recognize the issues with MULTIPLE guys and the coaching approach.

This is not Ben’s fault. This really isn’t the assistant coaches fault either. They would benifit from leaving the program Also. They are not learning how to coach at all. This is on Tom. His unwillingness to make the correct change. Ben and the entire program deserves better. I’m sure they all love Tom though. Iowa wrestling is ISU football. They win the championship in togetherness… they just don’t win much in wrestling.

Ludington’s first TD was actually the highlight of the match for Iowa until probably the scramble at the end of Williams match, which was fantastic to watch as a wrestling fan. Ludington nailed out right off the whistle, really slick, but then nothing.
Folks need to give Ludington a break. It was his first time under the lights of Carver. It was obvious he gassed because of nerves. He will learn to channel that. He will be a stud

"Folks need to give Ludington a break"

He may end up being a 4xer... But PSU fresh are winning world championships and are in top 5 rankings in NCAA.

Iowa is a shell of what they used to be.

What did he weigh in at, 230ish? By the NCAA descent plan, he would be allowed to get to 197 by sometime in May.

Kueter, like Iowa wrestling, is mid. Don't ever see him winning an ncaa title. Don't see any hawkeyes winning an individual one in the next 2-3 years. It is what it is.

I wish this wasn’t an anonymous message board. I say we should provide our names so when Iowa turns this around then these fair weather fans can be permanently excused from our fan base.
I’m jot sure that’s mathing… That’s all you’d need?

No, not with Iowa's history. He'll get hurt or regress. They might have contenders but no champs, I don't believe.

It’s funny but all the folks I’ve talked to said Ben would never win that match because Amos was just way too big. Well, that was a bigger win than most people realized and history will prove that. Amos will be tough to beat this year!
Didn't realize Amos had gotten that big. Yowser.

Totally. My comments about if Cael and Casey coached Ben is I feel like he would have developed an ankle pick by now and seem more free to dictate versus waiting in the current approach. Is that unfair to say?

I feel like he is young Kerk and he will evolve like he did but can this current staff help that?
What evolved with Kerk was getting healthy, then coming back after one offseason looking like the Incredible Hulk, tossing guys around.

He would have been there this year if it was realistic. He’s a true tweener, too lean at 238 to ever make 197 without killing himself, yet his body can burn through an amazing amount of calories without gaining much weight. I had a friend in college like that, could eat twice as much as me and stay skinny without exercising. I’m sure recovery from a hip surgery this summer limited doing the really heavy and high volume full body lifts to gain muscle mass and explosive strength. He should go back and find some old interviews with Snyder when he explained his strategy on taking down big guys. Basically use his speed to do a sweep type single then put pressure on the joints in a way they don’t bend so they would go down to avoid injury, like a sneaky submission hold the refs don’t notice.

Not just big but a skilled wrestler who was #1 pfp in his class I believe. I knew he was pulling too much weight at 197, and was afraid moving up would help, but thought he would be another small heavy, not almost full size heavy.

These idiots get all macho on an anonymous message board. They'd never say this to Ben's face - he'd bust them in half. Ben is a great young man with crazy high expectations placed on him. I see how hard he works and how much he cares. Let's go Team Kueter!

For having hip surgery and Amos weighing in at 271 I thought it was a great game plan no need to take a risk if you don't have to giving up that kind of weight
