I can't believe people aren't basting Rea on that force out at 3b. With the 2bmen running to first and SS running to 3b in the sac bunt, he should've had a much larger secondary lead. He could've had 6 more steps easily and all he needed to be safe was one more.

..genius who had a double nullified vs. Auburn because he didn't step on 1st base.

So you're dealing with a full-blown base-running retard in Rea.

Maybe that's why nobody is saying anything.

not only did he not get a big enough lead I could not believe he didn't go in with a slide. Definitely slowed up at the end.

But I'm not going to get to mad about a 290 pound baserunner not being fundamentally perfect

and not sliding into 3rd. The secondary lead was acceptable, IMO...especially with someone of Rea's level of athleticism.

There are alot of variables on a wheel play that can be exploited if a baserunner is over-aggressive, especially when he is slow and unathletic. We ran an inside move pick off play to the second baseman to combat this. You can also pitch out and hose the guy at 2nd with the catcher. Ran both successfully at times...

Also had one where we pitched out, left the 2nd basemen in place(no one apparently covering) and cheated in before covering with the center fielder. Never got to use that one unfortunately...

His secondary was definitely subpar in my opinion though. But if he hustles and slides, he makes it. When you slide on a close play, it's a lot tougher for the ump to see a bang bang play....therefore he's more likely to see it as a tie going to the runner. Rea tip toeing in, not only slowed him down, but also made it clear that he was beat by the throw
