With high expectations in fb next year and new expansion opening, I think...

this is "THE" opportunity MSU has been looking for to change a number of perceptions, and set this team on a new path for a while. The question I have is whether the administration is going to do everything possible to make this happen? The stadium speaks for itself, but now is the time to have some top level marketing group come in and make some awesome promotion materials, not the MSU same old, same old stuff. They should be ready to go for promoting Dak if he does have the season of seasons. The video/radio production department, etc. needs to have some new ideas, and step it up to match other schools the size of MSU. Does anyone see this happening, and what other ideas would make sense?

I honestly don't want to see a bunch of 'Dak for Heisman' stuff pushed. It's the 100th anniversary of Davis-Wade and it'll be better than ever. I think that's a better avenue for marketing.

We'll have $15-25 million additional reasons for a "changed perception" next year as well between the stadium revenue, quadrupled bowl revenue, and SECNetwork revenue -- that will balloon to a totally insane sum of money pretty quickly as the SEC network goes "primary tier" outside of the core southeast, which I mostly expect. We could easily be a $100mil/yr+ athletics department by the time the new Dudy Noble opens...

What MSU needs to do with the money(immediate sense):
1) Pay football assistants
2) Overhaul Video Dept and "buy back" the ad rights to the Dawgzillatron from Learfield(if we haven't already).
3) Beef up compliance tremendously. Protect the investments.

Longterm:
4) Review the basketball situation. By the end of the 2014/2015 season, our direction should be pretty clear.
5) Dudy Noble and all that entails
6) Renovate the Hump. I'd think we're leaving a ton of revenue on the table by not having "real" premium seating there. Of course, you'd like support to come back first -- but it will in time(one way or another) and we need to be ready.
7) Extensive planning for phase 2 of Davis Wade, which will almost assuredly include a lower east renovation. I felt like we were a little slow in "striking" on this expansion -- and I think the same is probably true for Dudy Noble.

I would agree, but if he does become that type of player, then they should be ready to promote the heck out of him. Look what Johnny Football did for A&M.

As far as video/radio goes, I love Jim Ellis for baseball, but he just is not excitable enough in the football broadcast. I would love to see the radio broadcast changed a bit. That being said, no one will be Jack in his prime. But when I listen to top tier teams on the radio, the production seems to be more professional than ours.

I like where our athletic department is moving for the beginning of 2014.
- Football: We are in the new golden age of MSU football with 4 straight bowl trips, 4 out of 5 Egg Bowl victories, and a legit shot at 10 wins and a Heisman finalist next season. Not to mention we play in the nation's best and richest conference.
- Baseball....well what can you really say....no less than a top 3 nationwide program in everyone's mind that follows college baseball.
- Basketball... improving much faster than everyone expected.

Like someone said earlier, we need to pay our good assistants in all sports because they deserve it and we want them to stick around. No time to be greedy..... And I also agree that we need to protect our investments by strengthening compliance. I would also throw in that MSU needs to keep investing in the beauty of the campus/buildings/facilities. They were a big reason I enjoyed my time as a student there, and people really do notice and comment on how beautiful the campus is.

"Basketball... improving much faster than everyone expected" ???
You lost me there. The cluster that our basketball program has become is shameful. I miss coach34 because I would love to hear his "wisdom" about which direction we should take now that he got that troublemaker Stansbury out of the way. No one has "improved the program" until they bypass or equal Stansbury's accomplishments. The Stansbury bashers had a loud voice but apparently they don't occupy many seats at the Hump.

WARNING ! WARNING! Wool Production Out Of Control, I epeat, wool production

Overload, DANGER!

Just to remind you guys that we are still MSU, and talk of a 10 win season and a Heisman candidate goes against everything we hold dear as long suffering dawg fans.

Ok, if we can get pass the bad karma and angry indian spirits, then we may be be looking at a special year in football which hopefully will set the stage for future years. I agree now is the time to step it up in marketing and promotion both on a big and small level. Boost in assistants' salaries with incentive clauses, facility improvements, media upgrades (including internet) need to be done. If we don't take advantage of next year's potential we might as well just pack it in and accept our cellar dwelling position.

I would like to see us bring some of our successful athletes back for games and make sure they get some air time during games to pump the university. Make them visible and accessible.

Pay the assistants. Make it a place young up and comers want to get a shot at.

Get all rights to the Dawgzillatron and make that thing work for us.

Make Addidas take uniform inputs from us and not just accept whatever aTm did not want on their uniform.

We need to lend some money to the MS Band of Choctaws to get their casinos back up to full production. Surely this would please the Indian spirits and our LSU curse would be removed.

It's my understanding that WE graciously accept anything Adidas recommends. Going back to the unveiling of the ****** uniforms we wear now and the interview Scott did alongside them he basically said they sent us a sample of our current ones and we were like "Yes! Thanks!" When they came out with these gold helmets on Thanksgiving he then said Dan Mullen picked out the gold from a set of samples they had sent over at the beginning of the season and personally asked for it like a week before the game.

Now, a bet some of the blame should be put on Adidas for knowing they were giving us and A&M identical jerseys but we are more to blame for being happy to get them. Remove the maxi pads from the helmet and shoulders and I'd be the happiest guy out there. Those are the only things keeping us from having awesome jerseys. I'm sure a phone call could fix this.

If there's any time more important to have classic jerseys you're happy with than the 100th anniversary of a stadium or a season your primed to have one of the best years in school history, I'm not sure when it is.

That being said, Bob's tweet of the view from midfield of only the expansion made me think of MSU as big time. Like big time "big time"... So I think everything else will work its way out.

ETA: White on white with a maroon helmet. Make it happen.

This. Heisman stuff takes care of itself. Do we wanna be like ole miss, riding around with a bunch of eli for heisman stickers on our cars? That **** doesn't matter one bit.

"True Maroon" field turf. TV audiences would love it!**

Painting the field maroon just once for the UT-martin game might be a great marketing ploy. It would get us all over Twitter and Sportscenter in the days leading up to the game. All buzz is good buzz, especially when we want the talking heads to discuss Dak.

It would be a huge WTF move that would invite some mockery, but the good marketing would probably outweigh the bad. As long as we just did it once, and for a game that no one cared about otherwise.

Yes it does. Jordan Lynch would have never been invited to New York without a year-long media campaign from NIU.

Bi-Polar SPS at its best....

Heck, even I was almost convinced *** wasn't worthy of a raise ......now I hear he's coached a 2* QB into the 2014 heisman conversation and the collective woollyness is.....jacked for 2014.

WTF?

Da Fuh???

I will start watching games again when we beat somebody of substance.**

LOL, exactly!!!

As for Dak for Heisman, OF COURSE you run a Dak for Heisman campaign. It's already being planned. You start small, make it viral, and let it build. If we lose early in the season or he doesn't produce, it quietly dies. If momentum builds, you let the campaign build. You don't print out 20K stickers and force every student on campus to stick it on their car though, that's bush league. Much more subtle ways of getting the message out there and letting it build up over time. And yes, I know for a fact that it's already on the drawing board.
