to their baseball stadiums, what would you like to see done to Dudy Noble?

For me, redo the outside and build chairbacks all the way down with skyboxes to help pay for the expansion.

but a first class area for kids would be huge. I have a 3 year old and a one year old. We went to a Braves game last year and stayed the entire game simply because they have a sweet play area. Slides, wiffle ball, TV's with cartoons, etc. Plus, my 3 year old girl is always begging to go to baseball games now, because she relates that to having fun.

Anything to get small kids (and the wife) happy about going to State games is a good thing.

I would agree with what you said DS except instead of chair backs leave the bleacher seats and just concrete it all the way down to both foul poles....The bleachers allow you to fit more people in and thus more revenue and more attendance records :)

They also need to NOT put the fake brick around the new jumbotron.....that was just an awful idea!

One question, I haven't been to Dudy Noble since the Super Regional, do they still have that road open between the Hump and Dudy Noble? </p>

re-do the outside, chop the roof off, fill in gaps between 1st and 3rd with new boxs and a new pressbox..and a roof that lines up,
extend grandstand down the lines, somehow angling the new chairbacks more towards the infield instead of dead cf by curving it in some,
half would be new chairbacks, half would be general admission bleachers (dont have to aim these as people can turn in them)...
relocate the outdoor batting cages from next to 3rd base bleachers to near new practice field,
and somehow put in new lights either on the grand stand or something else as the lights would have to be replaced.

Damn, I wish I could draw.

and if the 1st base is ever grandstanded, that road is going to get a little narrower, and lose all the parking spots on the Baseball side.

You could take that road out. I like Gtowndawg's idea about a kid's area. You could put new concessions and restrooms there and it would be easily accessible from the right field area.

My main thing is to rip out the two add on sections we have now and build it right. It sucks to have a damn wall in the middle of the grandstand. Thanks LT for your continued half-assnes.

1. A ramped up version of the plaza and walk of fame area that actually had some renderings several years ago until our coach just quit trying...and our AD obviously couldnt find funding for.

2. Extend the grandstand down the foul poles but not at the current height. If you go at the current height, you basically create an unfillable stadium. Fill with as many chairbacks as you think you can sell and make them part of the bulldog club giving program like basketball. Fill the rest with bleachers for gen admission and replace as needed. And I know this won't happen, but I'd go asymmetrical and consider grandstand down the 1st base line and give the 3rd base line back to the Left Field Lounge as it was in the beginning. You could incorporate a play area in there.

2A. More skyboxes and even club level

3. Renovate the press box.

4. More bathrooms in some form or fashion in the right center area of the lounge.

5. An additonal large concession stand and bathroom under the extended seating.

6. Make sure the back of the jumbo tron is covered.

7. Recognize it as "The Left Field Lounge" and not the lame Outfield Terrace.

8. And for nostalgia, bring back the old outfield fence metal signs with all the accomplishments.

that road/area is where the entrance for media to the hump is (the door, not parking) and the visitors locker room and bus parking is.
So you couldnt take it all out, but I get what you are saying.
Only problem with any kids area is you are going to want it within viewing of the ball field,
so it will likely have to go in the outfield somewhere and only place that i can think of is right next to the vistors bullpen, where the deck is right now.
as that area is more general "lay down a blanket" or a tent on the hill..than any outfield rigs.

Took the visitors pen and put it by ours. Bullpens are just an evil waste of space in ballparks. I know they have to run to the opposite side, but screw 'em they're visitors. You have the kids area where the pen used to be. Next to the deck and hill which is really the family area. Also, to aid those in the lounge a concession and bathrooms. The only thing I didn't add was the Penn's trailer selling Chicken on a Stick and fried pickles. Most are probably to old to remeber those days at the Dude.

I like extending the grandstands to the foul poles but I do also think it shouldnt all be chairback. The bleachers do provide more seating for more people and also allows for easier ticket sales the day of the game.

I couldnt imagine boxes going quite as far as in the picture though. I wouldnt pay for box seats to watch the game from the foul poles

a huge green wall maybe 20 yds behind the Dudy Noble sign, set off center to the right (fm home plate). I suppose it's there to block the glare off the Academic Center. It must be at 50 ft high.

We need to take a look at LSU and Ole Miss and try to add a little more because they've both passed us.

and turn it into a "Main Street" type thing. Brick walkway, an MSU hall of fame, a new store for the Diamond Girls selling all the MSU stuff, maybe a deli like a Lenny's or Peppers or something, try to get bold and put in a sports bar, a kids zone with all that fast pitch and batting cage stuff (even some basketball stuff), a green area with a dog house for Bully on game day, line it with typical stuff like hotdog and ice cream carts.

Oh, and have all this accessible only by ticket on gameday. Sort of like Yawkey Way at Fenway. This will mean building the stadium out to the foul poles as well, but the outfield never gets touched.

I say just get rid of it. I recall a couple of decent players back in the 80's that used to knock the **** out of the ball and they didn't have a 'hitting background'. Also, why do you need a 'monster' at the deepest part of the field?

2. Agree with 8dog on the old fence idea.

3. Do away with LFL drive-in passes and instead allow LFL'ers to purchase parking passes (1 per spot) in one of the top parking lots at the Hump.

Ever notice how at Wrigley Field they don't have seats in a portion of the center field bleachers? Same reason. You need a background that's consistent in color so that the hitters can see the baseball. I doubt you'll be getting rid of that.

add this in like at Wichita State.

the arrow points to their corporate box. it easily seats 80 or so people for a banquet. it houses most of their trophies and awards. let the bigger companies pay for it's use and pay to have their name on it somewhere which could pay for the rest of the expansion. i hear it is a great recruiting tool at WSU. they need it considering the half astroturf / half grass field.

Someone did the bleacher part (I think) and then I added the roof all the way around. Pretty sure that is how it happened. Been in my flickr stash for a while.

of the need for a hitter's background. We now have two: one where you'd expect it to be and another set off to the side about 20 yds behind it. It looks weird.
