I would think this would be a good time for Brown to be trying to get the top rated specialists in the country an offer for at least 2021 if it is too late for 2020 and see if we can solidify the kicking/punting situation. The kicking game can be the difference between winning or losing a close game.
McAfee was a scholarship player brought in in 2005. I believe he was the top rated kicker (though punting was how he made his money) that year coming out of high school according to some recruiting ranking services.
WVU has had some success getting specialists into the NFL. Paul Woodside, Charlie Bauman, Jay Taylor, Mike Vanderjagt, Todd Sauerbrun, Steve Superick, and Pat McAfee.
McAfee, Sauerbrun and Vanderjagt all were pro bowlers and NFL All Pro team members.
