When Koenning was hired and Hud was made co-coordinator, I think I understood what Mullen was doing. He really needed some experienced coordinators around him since he was a first year head coach. Koenning had a lot of experience and the spread offense background he was looking for.

My question is what is Koenning bringing to the table now? Mullen obviously has some loyalty to a guy who helped him adjust to his new role, but would the team be better off hiring an up-and-coming OC that Mullen could mentor and that might bring some innovation to the offense and recruiting? If part of the secret sauce we are missing is Hud's play calling, how do we replace that?

I would love to get Hud back, but he and Mullen are obviously oil and water, and Hud is probably getting nearer a head job at a bigger school in the not too distant future.

Thoughts?
