I just accept the fact that we're just not all that good. We suck at the plate as bad as we ever have and our pitching is good, but nothing special. We're a 2-3 seed in a regional and break for summer after that weekend.

I don't even know if we'll make a regional

Our RPI is horrible and we don't play anymore of the top SEC teams to help it rise other than Alabama. If we lose games to Missouri, Auburn and Tennessee, we might be done after the SEC Tournament.

this is by far the worst team i have ever seen with runners in scoring position. they are a 17ing disaster at the plate when we need them the most. with ross burned already, i fear we drop this series, but hey, we got those nice new unis to look forward to. nice job guys, way to seize opportunity.

That's a real possibility. I think we'll eventually start to put things together enough to get to a regional. But you're right, if we play the way we've played the first 2/3 of the season, we'll be borderline to even make a regional.

Right there with you

Honestly I've never understood how so many of our fans get so into it. I've even had some alums tell me they get into State baseball more than football, which completely blows my mind. I know we've had some history and some say it's our only legit chance at a NC ....blah, blah, blah but who would really notice outside of about 5 fanbases? That's like a restaurant saying they have have the best burger in Tchula. The only games I've watched or listened to in the past 10 years was finals against UCLA last year. That's all I needed to see to tell me that college baseball is hurting.

From 1981 to 1990, college baseball was literally all we had. And we had some incredible talent during that run. That's why so many of the older MSU fans love college baseball so much.

And that's where the difference is for someone like me. I didn't really start being a State fan until the late 90s when I was in high school. I never witnessed those teams and I'm sure my perspective would different if I had.

I did see those teams. And it was great, even though it was very frustrating to see Polk waste so much of that talent in the postseason (2003 wasn't the first regional he 17ed up). But that was all in the past. We'll never be that dominant in baseball again. For me, football is king. Second is either basketball or baseball, depending on which we're best at. For a long time, it was basketball.

I realized years ago that it's nothing more than entertainment and has no actual effect on my life win or lose.

It all goes back to first few weeks, and us losing a lot of games. We weren't a very good team then, and aren't a very good team now. That may not change a whole lot this year. We flat out can't hit for power. OM is a hitting machine that beats the small-ball approach. A contact pitcher will get demolished against a real hitting club. UCSB/Arizona rings a bell. We shouldn't even be in the top 30 right now. Hopefully we can salvage a game this weekend and try to improve at the plate down the stretch, but we will be better next year. Better talent emerging.

On a side note, I hope we can recruit the west coast a lot harder for our needs, the talent pool is teeming with rugged type sluggers and pitchers that can help us.

MSU athletics have been like a bad habit through the years for it`s fans. Almost everyone steps away at some point to detox but almost all relapse after awhile and come back. Your situation is no different than the generations that came before you....take some time off and enjoy the summer. Get your mind right for the football team to break your heart this fall. It`s just what we do....... We are MState !!!!
