1. We're 5-0. If you're a State fan bitching about how we've looked to this point, you should be ass17ed by a 300 LB convict. We've only done this FOUR times in school history. Enjoy it.

2. Defense was solid, not great. Seems we saw a bit of a hybrid SEC/non-con gameplan Saturday. Blitzed a little more, played very vanilla after getting up 20.

3. As usual, we used a "creampuff" to help build depth and get young guys reps. I'll repeat myself for the 18 millionth time: The depth we're showing will pay off big time, very soon. Likely this Saturday. It's one of my favorite things about this team.

4. We weren't "up" for UK, but we didn't need to be, nor did I expect to be. That said, we executed much, much better in this game than the previous. A very businesslike, TCB win. UK was never in the game. I feel much better after seeing the improved execution.

5. For those bitching about UK 14, consider this: Their 2 scores happened when 1) Our young DB fell down and 2) They got a short field on a shanked punt. Otherwise, they never threatened to score.

6. Congrats to Bump on breaking the TD record. It still says more about our ****** passing/receiving offensive records than anything. But he's having a helluva year so far, so hat's off from WMD.

7. We really need to let Dak throw it. Teams have figured out the Dak Attack. Time to add a few wrinkles.

8. Did Tubby play? I don't recall seeing him or us every attempting to get him the ball.

9. Damn glad to have PJ back. He's an added weapon at the DT spot, which is the strength of this team.

10. Josh Boyd had a big day. I'm hoping this game is his UAB for Fletcher last year.

11. I wish we'd scored on the last play, but there really wasn't much point. No sense in embarrassing another SEC team like that unless they've talked smack all week.

12. We called off the dogs after getting up 20 early in the 3rd. Running theme so far this season.

13. Can't wait to get Malcolm Johnson back next week.

14. We're going to be a bunch of fired up bastards this week. I can't wait for this game. DWS will be rockin' with the 8 PM kick. Biggest game we've played in more than a decade, and everyone will be ready - team, fans, EVERYONE. See you in Starkville Saturday.

Definitely a business like win, good description. I also agree about how many guys are playing hence building depth. Its pretty awesome if you think about it

No way I let Dak score there.

It's a ***** move in a game that was clarly at its end for both teams. You gain nothing by doing it. Dak has scored a TD before, so he knows what it feels like. Doing it up 13 with a few seconds left is just bad football karma. Dan doesn't run up scores, especially in SEC play, and I'm glad he doesn't do it. Would it be nice and flashy for us to have won by 20? Sure. But I would rather win by 13 with everyone knowing we dominated them instead of scoring a meaningless touchdown trying to run up the score and look like a bunch of punks.

Not to mention the possibility of a freak injury on the last play of the game for a meaningless score.

I'm leaning that direction as well. But it is almost Crxxmsesque when EVERYONE knows he's running. But I will say this: Dak had run it between the guards in short yardage virtually every time prior to Saturday. After getting stuffed b/w the guards a couple of times, we lined up the same, but Dak kinda deked and then took it on a designed outside run for good yardage. It was a subtle, but nice wrinkle to see. Like "Ok, he's still gonna run, but you better stop stacking it up in the middle because we aren't afraid to go outside with him." That said, Saturday might be the day we get the play-action pass in that situation from Dak. And UT won't know what hit them if it happens. I just pray Dak actually hits the pass when it finally happens, because his guy will likely be wide *** open. I'm talking CJ Sirmones type of open. (And yes, somewhere CJ is STILL wide open.)

I looked back at the play by play, and Dak was only stopped once on 3rd and 1. He was successful on a 4th and 3 and a 3rd and 1, as well as going for 5 yds on a 1st and goal, then 7yds, 7yds, and 8yds on the final drive.

So, basically, he was successful on 6 of his 7 plays in the game. I'll take that all day...even moreso when they absolutely know it is coming and can't stop it. I am finding myself building a bunch of confidence in Dak's running and his ability to get us what is needed.

I thought I remembered him being stopped twice, but apparently I was wrong. You're right, I'll take 6-of-7 every day of the week. I really hate to say it, but that's very Tebowesque in terms of knowing it's coming and not being able to stop it. Granted, he hasn't done it against a good D yet, but I really like what I've seen so far. When he gets going, he's a load to bring down.

Well he is wearing Tebow's #15 and he does have the same coach as Tebow so I don't think it's a stretch at all that he's being used exactly like Tebow was his freshman season. I hope his snaps increase going forward. Nothing more demoralizing for a defense when it's 3rd and 2 and everyone in the stadium knows what's coming and you still can't stop it. Keep doing that to a defense and you'll break their will.

Tubby played, he's just not getting targeted. I remember he fell down on the deep pass to heavens. I think he was the initial target until he fell, so Russell just chunked it deep to heavens.

I think we see #7 vs. Bama. Against UT if the situation arises and it's needed, but I feel it coming againt Bama.

This is exactly what Mullen did with a young Tebow. Started him out just reading the defense to know where to run on short yardage. Then worked in passes a little bit at a time. Rest assured after Dak is going to burn some teams on a QB play action.

i think we see the full monty this week vs. TN. We will use everything. It's a game that will require us to play our best to win. TN may not be SEC elite, but they are good enough to beat anyone in the league on any given saturday. Yes, even Alabama. Highly unlikely, but they could do it. They are not Kentucky/Vandy/Auburn/Arkansas.

I tend to agree with this. UT will be a challenge. I'd say it depends on whether or not we can get up by a couple of scores early. We'll certainly turn the D & O loose, but I'm not entirely sure we'll unchain the Dak Attack unless it's necessary. If we're up 2 TDs, I could see Mullen holding a couple of cards close. But if it's a tight game, the kitchen sink will come out. I'm not sure which way it'll go, but it's going to be damn fun to see regardless.
