So I expected a thread about 3 Gamecock ladies going in the first 2 rds of the WNBA draft.Saw some team drafted a UConn player #1 overall just because a current player's g/f.
Why doesn't the NBA adopt the approach of just drafting teammates who played well together in college?I'm sure the fact that they were teammates at UConn and won a NC together never came into play.
I don't know anything about the player taken. Maybe she's that good. WNBA is so agenda-driven, though, it seems at least suspect. That is as good a reason as any. No one cares at all about the WNBA.
You seem to be fighting something 18. No one that doesn't care would post about women's sports as much as you do. It's okay. You are not a sissy if a female sport interests you. As for the Azzi Fudd pick, you are probably right that it is agenda driven in some respect. Lauren Betts was by far the best player in this draft. Dallas already has 2 high level guards and I didn't see them needing a third. It's their team though.I don't know anything about the player taken. Maybe she's that good. I've never said women's sports don't interest me. Certain aspects of them certainly do. Just not any aspects that have to do with the product on the court/field.You seem to be fighting something 18. Wonder how long it will take for them to "sync up"? Imagine the locker room if they start having marital issues.
Talent is more concentrated in Women's College Basketball. The Top 8-10 college programs have most of the good players. There are, also, twice as many NBA teams. So, you see more former college teammates on WNBA rosters. For example, there will 3 players from South Carolina playing on the Indiana Fever with Caitlin Clark this year, maybe 4 if they bring Bree Hall back. People think I have been hating on Clark when I have been critical. The reason I am critical is because she has our former players on the roster, so I want them to win.Why doesn't the NBA adopt the approach of just drafting teammates who played well together in college?
I guess they are just different products, so different approaches to building teams.
Agreed. 18 comes off as mildly idiotic. Dude has some weird obsession with posting about women’s sports for someone “who doesn’t really follow it.” Probably has mommy issues. You seem to be fighting something 18. I was breastfed until I was 17. What's your point?
Indeed.Notice how any discussion that isn't fawning over women's sports seems to get them so worked up?
Indeed.
As I said above, there are things that interest me (fascinate me, even) about women's sports. None of it has to do with the product. As when the US women's soccer team was pushing for equal pay to the men, even their revenue was far less. To me, that was fascinating, even though I'm not a soccer fan or a fan of women's sports.
No one is worked up weirdo. I don’t giveashit if you like Gamecock WBB or not. What I find tragically stupid are the comments like “I miss men’s sports”, “I don’t follow women’s sports, but…”, “Nobody cares about women’s sports”, etc, etc, etc.Notice how any discussion that isn't fawning over women's sports seems to get them so worked up?

These comments are typically followed up by some form of slimy, lazy misogyny with chests puffed out and trailer park variety stupidity.
I ******* hate dumb people.
Here’s some comedy gold for the necks out there; but, an unassailable fact: Dawn Staley and WBB has brought more caché and spotlight to the athletics dept at The USC than any other sport, bar none. It’s as true as 2+2=4

"I'm not worked up. Now listen to me rant!"Like I said, very worked up. Makes me think there are some deeper issues.
If this is an example of "no one is worked up...", I'd hate to see you if you got worked up. You would likely have a stroke. No one is worked up weirdo. It is undeniable the Dawn is overseeing our most successful program in the history of the school. It is not undeniable that the WBB team has brough the most cache to the school than any men's program. I think it's fairly obvious that the school got considerably more buzz/hype/cache from Sellers and our flirtation with the CFP a couple seasons ago. Maybe it's not fair, but that's just the reality. Dawn is an unbelievable coach and she's built one of the best WBB program in the nation. It just isn't value added. The WBB title game had half the viewers of the men's title game, and that was a Sunday afternoon vs a Monday evening. If this is an example of "no one is worked up...", I'd hate to see you if you got worked up. You would likely have a stroke.
I applaud your quick pivot to misogyny. Obviously, anyone who doesn't worship at the altar of women's sports hates women and is stupid.
I am a little disappointed you didn't go for the one/two punch and pull out the "racism" card. I'm sure you will fulfil that duty promptly.
If it is indeed an "unassailable fact" that Dawn and WBB has brought the most cache and spotlight to the athletics dept, that is a pretty sad commentary on the state of athletics at South Carolina. Most athletic programs at major universities prefer a sport that actually makes money and draws a large mainstream audience to bring cache and spotlights on themselves.
