We're about 48 hours out from the opening whistle in Coralville, and I've just published by wall-to-wall preview for the Iowa women as they prepare to pursue a third consecutive national title:

Iowa women's wrestling takes on historic NCAA Championships - On3

This will be the first women's wrestling championship under an officially sanctioned NCAA banner (the 91st such championship in NCAA history), so in addition to an awesome tournament there's more prestige and attention being placed upon this event than ever before.

I'm not sure how active I'll be able to be in this thread throughout the weekend other than posting daily recap stories, but I hope you all can use it amongst each other to stay engaged/informed as the tournament progresses.

Each of the links below are also included in my (lengthy) preview - but I figured a shortcut here could be useful to folks as well:
Let's have some fun you guys!

Also Gonzalez, Larranmendy and Blades won.

It would be great if someone knowledgeable would do the play by play.

Junior wrestled Folkstyle, Greco, and not much Freestyle, so I never learned the Freestyle scoring system.
I am obviously (also was a 3rd string, end of bench basketball Center) not qualified to provide an intelligent narrative.

Lengs result sucked. She was the aggressor the entire match and loses since she got the first 1 point.

I believe all Hawks except Leng moved into quarters.

Edit: Osteen is yet to wrestle.

Osteen just did likewise.

Does anyone know the event schedule?

The "Schedule" link is worthless on TrackWrestling.

All but Leng in the quarters. It will start getting real tough now. Valencia vs Tedesco of McKendree quarter will go a long way in the team race.

Iowa only lost one but Leng can make some noise on the backside. NCC lost 6th seeded Aycock, who goes 0-2. McKendree has all 10 into the quarterfinals. We currently lead the team race but there will be some key matchups tonight that will help shape the team race - H2H with McKendree at 110 being the big one

No prior knowledge of women's college wrestling. It's quite the list of colleges represented.

Obviously I want Iowa to win, but just interesting with all the small schools and all NCAA divisions represented.

McKendree needs to gtfo and let Iowa win the national championship. Same with North Central.

They owe us after we lost the National Duals.

Besides, we need all the momentum we can get if Iowa State is gonna add wrestling and attempt to take away from Iowa.

103- #2 Valerie Solorio a 7-1 dec. over #7 Ramirez (Aurora); will face #6 Pendergrass (Quincy) in the Semifinals

110- #5 Nyla Valencia scores a 4-4 dec. (criteria?) over #4 Tedesco (McKendree); will face #1 Jimenez (Lehigh) in the Semifinals
