if we don't sign him who would actually hold the record for the longest time committed to MSU without actually signing with MSU, CJ Johnson or Scotty Hopson?

It sounds like Mullen is playing clean recruiting and we all know thew other two schools are not. Where is the "Bag man" when we need him?
I wonder what is really going on here...

in another thread, hell, the fact is you have to, I agree. I just don't think we are going to win the battle from what I am hearing but who knows, maybe CJ really does want to come to MSU, we are about to find out. Problem is we might be bringing a knife to a gun fight, CJ has really blown up!

You know the powers that be have to be aware that the Cam Newton fiasco has put them in a bad light with Slive. Slive would rather a team win a national championship paying their entire roster than have to be embarassed with a scandal. I'd also go as far as say that some of these recruits, particularly Brassell and Singleton, may have assumed we were really in the big time paying game due to the numbers being thrown around for Cam Newton. The money never came, from us, so they've found other bidders.Outside of that I can't understand why Brassell would ever even commit to State so early.
Any highly sought after recruit would have to assume that there is under the table money. We all assume it goes on right? So if they don't get any cash then they probably make the assumption that we don't value them as the other schools do. And don't forget Momma has to sign that LOI too, that is huge. Five Star DE Stephon Tuitt here in Atlanta was comitted to Notre Dame, decomitted and comitted to GT. Well after 36 hours Momma told him that he would be going to Notre Dame period. So he decomitted from GT and re-commited to Notre Dame.

If we're playing it clean this year then Mullen is doing one heck of a job because our class is not that bad. If we can pull CJ i'd actually say it's a pretty darn good class.

at this point now that Brassell and Johnson have left the fold I don't really see anybody on there that we are fighting off the LSUs and Alabamas of the world for. Of our solid commits Arrington and Morrow are the only 2 left that are noteworthy. Don't get me wrong we have some solid players lined up so far but none left that I see currently that would be considered at this time huge difference makers that would require a lot of extra incentive so I think we are playing it pretty clean right now. If we lose Johnson it will sting VERY badly because he was solid as could be for us for so long, is one of the best LBs to come out of the state in a long time AND its a huge position of need for us right now. Would certainly love to hang onto Whitehead who is still a soft verbal as well but for the most part the only loss that will really hurt our progress as a program in my view would be Johnson.

That would make our class infinitely better because he is both a great prospect and we have a need for LB's.

If we add PJ Jones, CJ Johnson, Leon Mackey, Derrick Milton, and one of David Washington/Kevin McReynolds/Xzavier Ward/Devonte Sigler we will have a solid class that fills our needs. Assuming we keep Whitehead that would put us at 27 commits.

it's easy to forget how recruiting goes, we picked up some good talent early. If Dak Prescott would have taken more visits and possibly played in a AA game he would have been a 4 star and everyone would have been chasing him.

Let's be realistic, we keep a few guys every year from Bama, LSU, Auburn but for the most part they get the guys. They also all have national championships in the last few years. We need to build up to that point to be able to go head to head. I feel we're getting there but it's going to take some time.
