decision to have 2 seperate surgeries on his knee rather than both at the same time, as advised by the medical staff.

He will now not be able to go through spring practice

if Elliot would have known that Dan Mullen and not Sly Croom was going to be running our offense in spring practice, he would have made a different decision.

he thought he was going to have to go through another Spring practice of running Croom's same 7 plays and then having to play in a 0-0 Spring Game...i can see why he wanted to miss that

I, for one, will never second guess anyone for taking the opinion of ANY doctor over that of The Butcher of Starkville. Well, I might listen to The Butcher over Dr. KB21 but that's about it.

even with a simple reconstruction, spring practice would've been a little quick for him to be back on the field anyway.

Just so you can relive it through your head:

1. Dixon off left tackle
2. Dixon off right tackle
3. Ducre draw
4. Brandon Mcrae's 5 yard out
5. Tyson Lee 5 yard drop, then scramble
6. Arnil Stallworth screen pass
7. Brandon Mcrae reverse

I wouldn't expect him to return by this spring no matter what happened. I'll just be happy if he's 100% by this fall, which I still think is a stretch. I always understood it took at least 9-12 months from surgery before playing football, and even longer if there are any complications (see Tom Brady).

...season.

I would rather the guy take a medical redshirt season for the 2009 season & recover 100% than come back too early & be 2 steps too slow the rest of his college career.

Same with McRae: I would rather see MSU's best WR take a medical redshirt season than come back too early & look like Will Prosser.
