..if you are wondering why MSU draws only 3,000 people to baseball games these days, tonight's game is your answer.

This type of nonsense can not be allowed to continue.

How is the athletic department supposed to do something about this? Our closer comes in and blows it. I don't understand your thought process

...we've already been forced to witness the basketball program become infected with the virus of bad attitude, half-assed effort & lack of a killer instinct during crunch time.

Watching this baseball foolishness is an almost mirror image of what we have witnessed on the basketball court the last 2-3 years.

Put it this way: If the MSU athletic dept. wants to be treated to 2,500 people being the maximum attendance at a MSU Sat. afternoon baseball game for the next 5 years, then say nothing & do nothing.

Most of us can remember when a mere 6,000 people showing up for a conference baseball game & Dudy-Noble was a source of embarrassment.

These days, if there are 2,000 people in the stands, it's probably because some area high schools bused in some kids.

And it hasn't been that way in the past decade. We're not a baseball power anymore. I don't know why everyone feels like we should magically reappear at the top of the SEC so quickly? What in the world does an 18-19 year old kid know about MSU history? Why should the top players come to MSU? Don't put that on Cohen. Cohen has made questionable coaching decisions. That is on him. The state of our fanbase is not on him. That is based on the fact that we haven't been relevant in years. <div>
</div><div>And if you seriously believe that our baseball program is comparable to our basketball program than you are as big of a joke as that aforementioned basketball program. The players respect our baseball coach and play hard for him. We just aren't as talented as other teams. How exactly do you propose getting 6000 people in the stands again for every series?</div>

Our players don't like (not a requirement) or respect Cohen and I know that for a fact. Guy is a tool. MSU can get the top players and we do. How many Mr. Baseball's have we gotten from how many states in the past couple of years?

The problem is our players are telling recruits Cohen sucks and if/when those players show up in the fall they already have their minds made up on how they're going to look at Coach.

I wasn't the biggest fan of the hire but I didn't hate it either, but I think the problem is he came in and made a bunch of promises he obviously wasn't going to keep and he's emotionally invested because this is his alma mater.

Chicken before the egg argument when it comes to attendance. Mullen is a great example of how one person can jump start a program's excitement. I've heard Mullen is a dick professionally but he's one of the most approachable people I've ever talked to, while Cohen sucks as a person IMO. I know a former player who played with Cohen who lives in Starkville and refuses to go to a game because of him.

I think he won't be here much longer, and unlike basketball Strick is going to be able to bring in a big name. And crowds will follow.

Cohen helped stop the bleeding after Polk II but I dont think he has what it takes to turn the corner.

Some of you just don't get it. I guess you never played sports. It's almost good when players don't like the coach. It's gives them all something to rally around and helps them develop as a team.<div>
</div><div>Show me a coach that's friends with all his players and I'll show you a loser. </div>

Attendance will come back and we will be in a position to finally take another big step and move past everyone else again in baseball. We have luxury. Only reason people have passed us now is because we sat idly for so long.....sooner or later you knew someone would pass usp. I assume we'll either upgrade DNF or build a brand new stadium....then we won't be passed again for another 20 years.<div>
</div><div>And hopefully we'll also have a new breed of fan.....not so much the old codgers that worship Polk and station to station baseball.....and Starkville will once again be a special place for baseball. </div><div>
</div><div>Right now I'm just hoping that more SEC programs don't win national titles.....an Ole Miss title could spell disaster. LSU and Carolina have already been tough enough to deal with.</div>

tool ever, is certainly not approachable and seems to be an all around *******, but it damn sure doesn't affect his ability to be successful. I don't buy that.

....even though you have a long history of posts that give it a run for its money.

The basketball team and the baseball team are polar opposites. Basketball was long on talent and short on heart, and baseball is exactly the opposite. This team has no quit and they are very scrappy and play gutsy baseball. It's not always smart and we don't always get the job done, but to compare them to that bunch of mercenaries on the basketball court is beyond idiotic.

..is suddenly riding to the rescue?

Take about idoitic posts. You don't even try to hide your hypocrisy.

And the comparison between the basketball program & the baseball program is valild.

Two clusterf*cks that are on a downward spiral due to a whole series of bone-headed events, bone-headed decisions & bone-headed people.
