In an appearance Tuesday morning with Matt Vasgersian and Harold Reynolds on "Hot Stove" on MLB Network, where DeRosa works as an analyst, he said of the game against Italy: "We want to win this game even though our ticket's punched to the quarterfinals."
Team USA's ticket was not punched -- and its fate now depends on the results of Italy and Mexico's contest Wednesday night, the final game of the WBC's Pool B.

That was a great, well played game! USA was the beneficiary of a few low called strike 3s, especially the last one. But what a game!
I hate that the last pitch was called incorrectly. What I’m going to hate even more is how it will be turned into Chris Webber’s timeout over the next few days. It didn’t cost the DR the win. It cost them a chance to have Tatis hit with runners on the corners an two outs still. Absolutely no guarantee the DR ties that game up. In fact, the odds would still favor Miller to get Tatis and end the game.
