I think soccer and golf fall into the same category if you are playing it is alright if mot well . I play golf and watch golf but I can totally understand those who don’t play think it boring.In 1977 I participated in first ever soccer match between two Lincoln High Schools. Lincoln High at LSE. We, LSE, lost 2-1, but it was close. This was a "Club" event and actually made the Lincoln papers.
I tried to like it, I really did try. I tried again in 1994, even knew some names, especially Brandi Chastaine! I have regressed to where I know zero names on either team, unless Rodman's daughter is on it.
I tried, really did, but it is so damned boring unless you are playing it yourself, that it never has stuck. I hate to admit that I know more about WNBA than I do kick-ball, even though I kinda played 49 years ago.

I would contest that Northwestern has a corner on suck game football, winning games by making the game literally suck when you play them to a point where the other team makes some small mistake that costs them.
Brings to mind this headline from a couple of years ago:

Golfers are grass fairies as well. Just not as athletic as soccer players. Guess they are in a level of their own.

College football, for all it's issues, could never be as ridiculously boring and silly as soccer. Unless you like spending 90+ minutes watching people running around aimlessly and then falling to the ground in dire pain when they're touched by another player.
Just imagine 85,000 fans in Nebraska coming to Lincoln from all over the state and another 500,000 watching on TV a bunch of guys running around chasing a round ball for 90+ minutes with the final score a 2-0 blowout win.

It’s harder to gamble on some of these games at this point because some teams already have things clinched for the next round so they may play half-a$$ and so it’s almost like an inconsequential bowl game where a team may or may not show up
