I know not all of you are soccer savy and fans of the sport, but even a first time viewer could have seen the horrible call that revoked Edu's 86th minute goal. With that being said my question is who is worse: The ref from Mali of SEC Refs?
The Mali guy, while he was definitely in over his head (How many BIG games/matches can he possiblyref in Mali?), he's a single ref.
Meanwhile, the SECputs a pack of refs on the field and providesinstant replay toa ref in the skyand the crews still manageto screw up calls ona consistent basis.
There's no question: Today's center referee was atrocious.<div>
</div><div>I may not have agreed with every referee call in the SEC last year, and a few calls were just downright awful, but I could at least understand why each call was made. Not today.</div><div>
</div><div>No call made by an SEC official last year comes close to how badly this guy botched this one. Hell, every call by an SEC official COMBINED doesn't equal the amount of awful that this call does.</div>
This is the World Cup. Everyone involved is supposed to be the best player/coach/referee in the world. You just CANNOT make phantom calls like the one today. Sure there's grabbing jerseys and holding arms on set pieces like that, but I've NEVER seen someone get bear hugged with both arms right in front of the ref and nothing is called, but instead a phantom made up call is made. What was the call? Offsides? Elbow by Edu? Surely it wasn't the 3 bear hugs by the Slovenian players. 17 that ref. I hope FIFA fires his *** immediately.
Just thinking about it is pissing me off. At least we control our own destiny. Win and advance.
