Recently we've seen 50+ year old men unironically post lyrics from Eminem's "Lose Yourself" and Motley Crue's "In The Beginning" on this board to, I guess, "get hyped" for a big Kentucky football game, with each post subsequently leading to a miserable loss. So that got me thinking, what other terrible lyrics are out there that get the blood flowing in the dum dums? Or, for the flip side, are there any lyrics out there that actually might help focus the collective zen of the fanbase and turn the football season around?
Van Halen's "Right Now" has to be up there, right?
It's your tomorrow
(Right now),
C'mon, it's everything
(Right now),
Catch a magic moment, do it
Right here and now
It means everything
I can picture a bearded dude with a perfectly curved UK hat, still rocking bootcut jeans, nodding their head along to those lyrics while gulping down some overpriced bourbon... all the while their significant other uneasily looks away and thinks back to their younger days and what they envisioned their life could be compared to the awkward tragedy it is in that moment. Or something like that.
T.N.T. by AC/DC seems to be an obvious one as well.
'Cause I'm T.N.T. I'm dynamite
T.N.T. and I'll win the fight
T.N.T. I'm a power load
T.N.T. watch me explode!
Pretty self-explanatory. We're going to blow our load all over our opponents and they're just going to have sit there and take it. Maybe have Big Balls queued up to play right after that just to drive home the point. 40-year-old dudes throwing 'bos at the tailgate and chest bumps all around, dropping f bombs while dad's nearby shield the ears of their children. I mean, that's mostly a positive scene, right?
Any other suggestions? Should we just stick with the tried-and-true results of Eye of the Tiger to turn this around and guarantee a strong finish to the football season? Or should we go for a more purely Americana vibe? And for the Duke/Kentucky basketball game, should we post more hip hop lyrics given how rooted basketball is in the urban communities? Or should we swerve and go all Travis Tratt on it?
