Derek Mason looks totally in over his head at Vandy and ol Charlie got whipped by the Mormons at home. Based in the different level of expectations in Austin do you consider their 1-1 start to be worse than Vandys vintage 0-2 with two blowout losses?

I'm gonna say mason.

Strong has a track record, so he's not freaking out. Mason just has no idea

I don't think it's guaranteed Mason returns next year at the current rate.

Mason

BYU ran for 555 last year against the Horns. Getting smoked by the Mormons is nothing new.

Mason.

Something like 2-10 looks probable.

UMAss, Charleston Southern and Old Dominion are their remaining nonconference.

I know nothing about those fine institutions.

Sort of resemble Ellis Johnson hire at USM following Fedora.

Mason's resume consists of being able to tie a damn fine bow tie. Outside of that, not much.

Mason, but Strong has the tougher job. Post game on the Longhorn Network.... they replayed the Big XII championship game between UT and Nebraska. Vandy remembers what it is like to suck, Mason will get a freebie.

Mason, no doubt.

I want to cut Mason some slack due to losing a ton of talent and experience to graduation right before he got there along with the mass exodus of the better part of this year's recruiting class, but the fact that he came in and is trying to run the power I despite those two factors won't let me do it.

Charlie Strong lost his top QB with a concussion...

David Ash suffered a concussion last week, and has a history of concussions. All this week, Sports Talk radio has been talking about how David Ash needs to quit football and concentrate on his future. After last night's blowout, I'm pretty sure Charlie Strong is laying hands on Ash and pronouncing him "cured".

Mason is making Croom look like a good coach. I knew Vandy would be bad this year, but I had no idea they'd be this bad.

i agree with your assessment. it couldnt look worse for vandy, but texas actually has winning expectations.
