I don't believe the Huskers are very happy in the B1G, and with this Covid fiasco taking place for the last few months of football season, the B1G is obviously holding a grudge against them.

Started off by not allowing them to play football outside of the B1G, if the B1G didn't have a season. Then, just for ***** and giggles, they made them open the season at Ohio State. Today, they were able to schedule UT-Chattanooga to take the place of the Wisconsin game, but the B1G denied them the ability to play that game.

Divorce seems somewhat probable.

Nebraska is intriguing, they cant recruit like the 70s or 80s anymore, and dont fit in all that well with the Big Ten. But right now they get the bucks from the Big.

Covid is having an impact on everything though, so no way to know where money in sports is going. Might make sense for the Big Ten to contract by a school or two so that the others can maintain the same financial level per school. Nebraska hasnt brought anything other than a name that doesnt hold the same weight it used to.

If something like that happened, Nebraska could help the BIG I2 grow their financial numbers and get to 12 teams and Nebraska would be in a more competitive situation.

Of course the Big 12 would take Nebraska back. And of course it's a moot point because Nebraska would never leave the Big Ten.

P.S. I hope that Nebraska remains in the B1G, as without the actions of both the Cornhuskers and Ohio State, no B1G games would have been played in 2020.

Back to subject, Nebraska is not leaving B10 and b12 is not interested in Nebraska. That Ship has sailed.

Good question.

IMO. My guess is in a heartbeat for Oklahoma (Natural Historic RIVALRY), Oklahoma State, K State, Iowa State, and the basketball school from the Old Big 8. I didn’t forget Kansas but they don’t need another *** kicking from the past but they would take Nebraska just to have 1 full house in football a season every 2 years. For WVU, I think it would be a yes. Add that & it gets you to 6.

Now as for the state of Texas: Texas would probably be a no. TX tech???? Baylor??????, TCU?????

I think it’s a 75% vote for Big XII expansion and approval. You need 2 yes votes in Texas. And here’s the thing the Big XII needs 2 to get to 12. 11 doesn’t do much except mean a 10 game conference schedule meaning only 2 ooc games.

As for Nebraska, they make more in the B1G than Big XII so despite their disdain for a conference where they’re treated like a Lepper or the bastard son & 2nd class there next to Ohio State, Meat Chicken, and Wisky and even Sandusky State (that has to drive them nuts), they’ll bite their tongue til their ego says we’re out of here.

The thing with Nebraska is they could jump to probably anywhere but every conference has a pecking order. In the SEC, if you ain’t got a ring or 2 in the last 15 years, about 4 schools can say STFU and cash your check, In the B1G, I have to believe it is Ohio State and Meat Chicken are arguing and calling the Shots.

In the Big XII , I’d say Texas brass would say at the first meeting “Oh you’re back, we hadn’t heard anything about you while you been away.” Oklahoma could cough and say “Well Texas nobody has heard anything from you and you didn’t even leave.” Then there’s the LHN till espn finally admits “we paid how much for this $#!+ for a school who has been no better in most years than the 3rd best school in TX.“

Nebraska would be welcomed back immediately. I expect them to be back if/when Pac12 falls apart and Big 12 poaches Pac12 teams. That rumor may have some legs since USC is disgusted with the PAC 12.

Highly doubt they would have the votes to return. Big 12 should have invited Louisville. Big 10 would have been better off getting Missouri instead of Nebraska. These result could have possibly put WVU in SEC. If not then all 3, TCU, WVU, and UL would be in Big 12 with 8 or 9 conference games and 3 or 4 OOC games.

We can mix, match and rumor teams here and there all day long but it's not happening.

Why do you believe that the B1G would have been better off having invited Mizzou, Allen? Nebraska might be a "has been," but Missouri is a "never was." I like the Nebraska addition, and can stomach Maryland, but Rutgers should have been left to fend for itself in the Group of 5.

Probably should have made a play for both Missouri and Nebraska, and left out Rutgers, but Rutgers was invited for the TV sets. Of course, Rutgers basketball is starting to make some noise.

I know that both Rutgers and Maryland were added for their large TV markets, as the B1G makes some big bucks for every cable/satellite provider that adds the Big Ten Network to its package. Rutgers' poor on-field performance drags the league down from a perception standpoint, but Schiano should be able to make the Knights somewhat competitive in a couple of years, which is all that they need to be.

Realignment is going to happen within the next three years it’s just a matter between Big 12 and PAC. PAC is struggling heavily and I wouldn't be surprised if USC bails to go independent which could be the start of the dominos.

As for the Big 12, we obviously sat and watched and ended up where Mizzou didn’t. I had high hopes for SEC and still do but doubt it. Big 12 basketball has been down right nasty good, football is tougher than ACC easily and we had our typical WVU every three years or so good teams.

Travel was a big issue but not too much anymore. We have made a *** load of money and our facilities are reaping the benefits so the Big 12 has been financially great to us. However if Texas and OU decide their done (as they were years ago when they and OkSt and Texas Tech were heading to PAC) then this conference is toast.
However always refer to Coach Snyder and his comments which Resignation so very true with several of my friends at Texas University, he stated that he knew three for Big 12 schools would be back in a heartbeat if asked or the opportunity presented itself. Obviously the no-brainer is Colorado, but Several people alluded to Nebraska. Nebraska has not fit in to the conference and again they’re making a ton of money, so why would they leave. No idea except the way they have been treated and basically given that ridiculous schedule as Ohio State essentially has a ACC schedule would be enough for me to pull the plug and get out of there.

Again I agree with you there was a ton of scenarios to fantasize about but at the end today I would like to wish to be in the SEC.

Bottom line expansion is over. Unless the Big 12 or Pac 12 crumble. PAC has more history than the Big 12. Surely you can figure it out.

Answer: No.

The earth will not be moving until the TV contracts re-new and conferences will add in order to get a better deal. (Maryland & Rutgers to B16).

Texas will likely have an opening soon and the Khakis would be their next “can’t miss —sure fire —he’s the guy—HBC” to make Texas at least the 2nd best school in the lone star state.

The genius conference that added Rutgers for their football tradition?
The Nebraska move never made sense.
There were a lot of screwball moves made by conferences that I suspect will fall apart slowly over the next decade. The ACC taking BC, Syracuse and pitt. Was one of the biggest head scratchers.
Texas A&M and Missery in the SEC. Even us in the big 12, is an odd fit. I'm not complaining being in a Power 5 conference at all. I like the Big 12 except for the travel. But, there are better alliances that do, and IMHO will happen.
Nebraska coming back would be high up on the list.
