Would you have taken a knee?

running it, you're risking a fumble and return for TD and onside kick + FG/TD to tie/lose. Probably a 1 in a million possibility of it happens, but why risk it. Oh wait. Its Bama. Game changing calls and randomly thrown flags were bought before the game started.

Seriously, who cares if a football coach is a nice guy? Bama pays him to win football games and hold up crystal footballs. And honestly, when he's interviewed, Saban is usually very contrite, honest, and always gives credit to the other team and to his coaches and players. You think Bear Bryant wasn't a prick? Joe Paterno?

snapping the ball 3 times and running the clock out. Makes perfect sense to place him among those others.

I am sure he just didn't want folks saying, "What if Colt was healthy this game?" when he made that decision.

I thought Texas still had 1 TO left with more than a minute on the clock when they ran 2nd down. Even if they had taken 4 knees, Texas would've gotten the ball back with ~20 seconds or so.

Richardson was short of 100 yards before those last 2 rushes. I think saban wanted to get 2 100 yarders against the #1 rush defense.

If Texas calls their timeout then, fine run straight at them. Nick is a good coach, possibly even great now. Sportsman not so much.

Hell, Mullen took a knee against Ole Miss in the Egg Bowl under very similar circumstances.

I guarantee that the Bear or Joe Pa both take a knee.

They were first and 10 with 1:48 left and Texas had 1 timeout left. If they had taken 4 knees and UT had used their timeout, the Horns would have maybe gotten the ball back with 10 seconds left. After running on first down and getting to the 5 after the penalty they could have taken the knees even with UT using their timeout and run the clock out. My guess is Texas wouldn't have used their timeout and they could have just taken the knees from the beginning.

I just think taking a knee shows up the opponent more. It shows them that you dominated the game enough that you can now throw it in their face by taking a knee.. Just IMHO, which doesn't amount to much..
