Wow.....a QB stat that says it all..

I was just listening to the post game with Leach and Stoops....tonight's game was only THE 2ND TIME IN THE LAST 14 GAMES that we didn't have at least one interception in a game! So in the last 13 games with Towles starting, only one time did he not throw at least one pick...wow

If that stat doesn't illustrate the inconsistency not only from game to game but from throw to throw with Towles as QB, I don't know what does.

Cold and windy, not a night to be throwing the ball. Some are making to much of the passing game tonight. An all Pro QB would have issues throwing in these conditions. And why put that pressure on a young QB when it's not needed. Not much can be said about comparing these guys on a night like this anyway.

Give it a rest and see how it plays out.

Yeah I wouldn't get too excited since you didn't see the game. We ran all over them, Drew didn't have time to throw anything down field because of poor pass protection again. Drew did fine, 16-29 for 129 yds. But this wasn't a game where any difficult passes were needed. UL will be a problem if we can't protect Drew.

I watched the game on tv. The simple fact is that if you throw the ball 29 times, regardless of if you are going downfield or not(which we didn't), then you have a better than average chance of being intercepted. Especially so with a questionable OLine.

We played a couple of scrub teams in that last 13 games and that didn't keep Towles from throwing an interception. Clearly a bigger sampling against bigger competition is needed to determine how good Barker can be.

Regardless...that stat doesn't tell you anything about Barker, but it really illustrates Towles struggles even more

Yeah TN, Ga, and MissSt, were not great teams. And yeah, throwing 8 yds passes are always more susceptible to interceptions then a 25 TD pass. And I agree, I believe the oline has been questionable all year.

If I remember right, Drew threw a pick in both games he played in this year before tonight. So he threw a pick every game, and Patrick threw a pick in 2/3 of his game. Your point?

Apparently running for 400 yards isn't either. There are two threads about the o line. Look, I know the offensive line is poor, they have been poor all year and will be poor next week. But is you start a thread about anything negative after winning 58-10, then you were just waiting to say something negative.

If you weren't there you couldn't have understood how much the conditions affected the passing game. It was wet, very windy in gusts, and very cold. There was rain, sleet and snow during the game. Barker made some good throws and some bad ones but he made decisions quickly and was good in the short and medium game. He didn't throw long.

Barker deserves to be the starter next week,but the jury hasn't seen all the evidence as to whether or not he is the long term fixture there.

Won't take anything from Drew but you can take away 5 passes from his total but want to ***** about PT when he did it. Interesting?

It was 39 degrees at around the first quarter so it was chilly. But until half time it was actually very playable. And then the snow and wind developed and it became a running game.

Ball control is HUGE. More turnovers usually lead to defeat.

Drew was just fine tonight. No complaints. Keep in mind, however, this is the worst team we played all year...and it's not close. EKU is multiple tds better than Charlotte. Let's just hope Barker continues his development and all phases of the game are solid next week. Time to end the Louisville streak!

A positive stat. But he's been interception prone too.

I saw some good things. Ball comes out much quicker. Beyond that, hard to evaluate due to level of competition and awful wind/weather.

UK offense......less passes = better chance of victory. Plain and simple, I know you must throw the ball, but we run block better than we pass block, and Boom, JoJo, Horton, and finally getting a shot, King can move the ball down field. Also keep the closck moving and the ball away from the opponent.

I wouldn't make too much of this game either way. Charlotte is really bad. We all know our running game isn't as good as it looked last night. That might be true of Barker as well or it might be the opposite. No one really knows. I saw things I liked, especially the way he kept his eyes down field while scrambling. And I saw things I didn't like, such as his lack of accuracy at times and he threw into coverage a few times where Charlotte missed easy interceptions that better teams won't miss.

It was not a passing kindnof night and Drew just needed to get comfortable out there for four quarters under the lights and let the skill players take care of business. The big test comes Saturday against the Dirty Birds.

Throw in quick release with no hesitation....sorry but why he hasn't been getting reps all year is mind-blowing

There are things you can tell about a QB regardless of competition and Drew B. should have been playing all year in some capacity....his TD pass last week to Timmons alone was all I needed to see....on the money in stride

Here is what I saw..Barker has quicker release and spreads the ball to more receivers. His down field throws were off (weather related?)
IMO Towles was handicapped by the no running rule by Dawson.

Both QB's are hampered by Dawson and a atrocious offensive line

Not sure if this is the game I'd use to argue interceptions. Barker hasn't exactly been putting the ball on the money against Vandy or Charlotte of all ppl. There were 3-4 throws alone last night that would've been INT's or pick-sixes against power 5 defensive backs. How anyone could argue anything even remotely positive about Barker's performance last night (besides the fact that he had a running game go for 400+ yards, which oddly, many are now giving Barker credit for) is beyond me and just reeks of hypocrisy and double standards. Barker has played in what amounts to about a total of 7 quarters of actual games this season (mainly against Vandy and Charlotte) and has what, 2 INT's and 2 fumbles? Come on. Some of this stuff is just getting silly at this point.

If this isn't hypocrisy and double standards I don't know what is. Towles would go 22 of 27 with about 4 drops and some of these same ppl would hammer him with non-stop criticism. Come on. Now we're deducting throwaways from his pass attempts so that we can make him look better and fit our agenda?

These fictitious username people eat their own on here and then have the unmitigated gall to bash someone for being a troll. This QB bashing is very cyclical. Towles I can't imagine under any circumstance will be back. So Drew next year will be the new whipping boy and Gunner Hoak will now be seen as the next coming of Babe Parilli.

Actually Towles and Barker are many times better than Montana. I'm a ND fan and he finished his career with exactly 25 TD'S and 25 INT's. And that was only from a great senior year with a much better ratio. He would be run out of town my our fan base today. He mostly passed the ball off to stellar runners or made great passes at the right time, hence his nickname Joe Cool.
