suspending him 9 games is basically worthless- he has already suspended himself for 12-13...the NCAA suspension should follow after the academic suspension is done if it was done correctly...but I doubt thats the case

December 9 - Last day of Fall finals SEMESTER ENDS

Bost regains academic eligibility and is suspended for nine games...

<font color="#ff0000">December 11 - East Tennessee State
December 13 - Nicholls State
December 18 - Virginia Tech @ Bahamas
December 22 - WashingtonState @ Hawaii - Diamond Head
December 23 -Baylor or San Diego @Hawaii - Diamond Head
December 25 - Butler, Utah, Hawaii, or Florida State@ Hawaii - Diamond Head
January 8 - Alabama
January 13 - @ Ole Miss
January 16 - Auburn
</font>
Bost eligible -- Cunningham had mentioned on Basketball Travelers about considering January 18 and 19 as potential dates for a game. I would not be surprised to see a game scheduled then...

January 22 - @ Georgia - Bost eligible on January 22

will definitely be a Tale of Two Seasons ... one w/out starting PG & PF and one with. At least MSU Basketball is not BORING!

Release:
Mississippi State junior guard Dee Bost learned on Wednesday his eligibility will be restored by the NCAA following a nine-game suspension for failing to properly withdraw by the May 8 NBA draft deadline. Bost, who is currently academically ineligible to play the fall semester, will begin serving his suspension once he regains his academic eligibility in early December.

his suspension starts after he regains eligibility sometime in December. So we're probably looking at mid-January before he gets to play any.

This is still awesome, awesome news. Still plenty of time for him to get back into playing shape before we get into Tourney time. This team could really make some noise late if all things come together.

Coach-Double-17,<div>
</div><div>Would you redshirt him or use him for a deep run in the SEC Tourney and hope to earn a NCAA bid that way?</div>

Season 1: Nine games without a PG and PF
Season 2: Nine games with a PF and without a PG
Season 3: The PF and PG play.</p>

If Bost were academically eligible, he'd be ready to play in mid-December.</p>

I'm still interested to see exactly when he's elliblie to step on the court.<div>
But I'm curious to the effect the first 9 or 18 games will have on the team. Sure, we'll get some good experience for Beckham and Riek. But will our record show a few losses that are hard to overcome even with a solid SEC record.</div><div>
</div><div>You gotta play Bost and Sidney together because if Sidney is as good as some are expecting then he won't be here for his junior year. Who knows about Bost's future plans?</div>

Pretty sure Ravern Johnson is academically ineligable until the end of December as well.

So Ravern, Bost, and Sidney will be out until mid December, when, hopefully, Ravern and Sidney will become eligable. Then Bost will return sometime in late January.

We're <17>ed

Just read that MSU hopes to have him eligible by the SEC opener. If so, I agree that there's no way he takes a RS year. Plus we need he and Sidney to play w/ each other. Both of these guys would rather be making $$$$$ in the NBA instead of $$ at MSU.<div>
</div><div>But I wonder if he realized how far off he is from being ready for the NBA</div>

what is the specific date that his "semester suspension" for grades deemed ended? And where does that date fall on the schedule?

If this is already answered in this f'n gangly *** thread, then just repost the damn answer as a reply.

the fact that Bost is a student first and an athlete second. If he is on academic probation then he needs to earn high enough grades to bring his overall GPA to above the minimum requirement to participate in basketball. Last time I checked a student-athletic had to have a 2.0 GPA to qualify. So the next milestone for Bost would be at the end of the fall semester. The clock for suspension would begin at that point.

I think the NCAA is full of **** though. I wish he would redshirt but I doubt it. If this was Kentucky he would miss one or two exhibition games.

per Marcello. He also brought up that we have 2 more dates to fill, which would allow Dee to return Jan 8 vs AU.

We don't know the details of his Vegas camp excursion, but 9 games seems a bit excessive compared to similar cases. Hell, his season cannot start until December anyway, so MSU better appeal just to see if they can get lucky.

...unless the rumored exhibition game in Jackson can be counted towards those nine. In that case, Bost would be eligible to play on the 8th; however, we are M-State, so that won't happen.

Good job Stans, now you have three excuses this year already for your lack of coaching. You already ran off Osby and kicked Turner off the team. If he does not make the Sweet 16 this year he never will. No excuses with the RSS, Bost, Ravern & Kodi. We could really have used Osby & Turner.....</p>
