Sure, Trump just congratulated the Scots for voting to Leave. Trump's on top of things, he is.
And we should definitely be working for less free trade. More trade restrictions. Higher tariffs. We could probably get things back to 1930 if we tried hard enough.
The msm is spinning this as anger. The anger I hear is on the left.

We should protect our interests. Free trade is great if there is mutual benefit. That has not been the case in the US in the last 20 years. Trump is on top of the disdain for politics as usual. Like the people in GB, he sees the status quo is/was not working. Allowing other nations to have input into, much less control over segments of their economy and have a negative impact on their culture was not in their best interests.
In our case, higher tariffs might not be a bad idea.

Britain figured out how to rule the world and won a couple world wars. I'm pretty sure they can figure out how to negotiate a trade deal and get more nurses without importing a bunch of Poles and Pakistanis. Oh, and a cheaper £ will help British exporters. And lastly, get pumped.

Once upon a time, the sun never set on the British empire b/c it was so expansive. Folks tend to forget that bit. Especially when it suits their hopes and wishes for GB to now collapse.

On my FB feed, the local news outlets are, err, refusing to let a good crisis go to waste by posting constant SM value updates. Like, every hour all day long. I'm extremely interested to see if they document any recovery with such fervor. Not holding my breath.
Count me in on this as well. But with one major stipulation…all of the politicians in DC have to STAY in DC. They can't go back to their homes. And I mean ALL politicians. Both sides of the isle.

That's the narrative I love on social media from the left. These poor young people where 75 percent voted to remain. Because you know young people are always great at sound decision making and they're not easily manipulated by political lunatics and they just have tons of experience and wisdom.
I'm headed to back to Britain next year. Depending on the upcoming Prez election, great conversation is nevertheless expected. Heh!
The most easily influenced and youngest of the voting block voted 75% stay.

Hell, the Brits made a 23-year, good faith effort to have open borders. That's a long trial period, and they've decided it didn't work. Neither the media nor other countries can rightfully criticize their decision. It's EXPERIENCE and REALITY, not "fear" that drove this vote.
Reminds me of the widespread media rebuke of Kentucky voters for the election of Bevin as Governor, as the media and elites ridiculed poor Kentuckians for voting against their economic interest. You could practically hear the subtext which was "wait a second, by giving you all these freebies, we already bought and paid for your vote. You must not know what's good for you."
Very glad that there were enough Brits who voted their conscience, in the face of the real "FEAR" campaign, i.e., that this will hurt them economically.

Sure, there has been a benefit for the US. Americans get cheaper products, corporate shareholders get higher stock values, and CEO pay is higher than ever.
I would say that when the pay gap between your CEO and workers is as massive as it is today then there is something wrong. When real wages have stagnated and in many cases declined over the past several decades then yes there is something wrong. That's just my opinion though.

From what I have seen and heard, one of the biggest drivers of the vote to leave was the mass immigration coming into England that was allowed by the EU. Hmmm... the people decided they wanted more control of who comes into their own country. Imagine that.
This is true. Restricting the flow of people and trade isn't a good thing for Britain economically. Moreover the uncertainty makes Britain less attractive for investment. So less flow of people, trade and money. Could they eventually reemerge even better? Possible. Sometimes you have to take a step back to move forward. But let's be clear...this is a step back for UK economically. Also why global markets reacted the way they did. They may or may not emerge better in the long run, but they do have an uphill climb.
The positives are what everyone here has already hashed out, in terms of potentially better control of borders, better security, culture preservation, and in general just more control over affairs in their own country.
