I really like how ESPN is all over Shay Hodge's lucky *** catch. Calling it the catch of the year when it just so luckily happened to fall in his hands. There was very little if any skill involved in that catch. Yet they don't show the pick six from Broomfield. They show Bumphis' awesome catch and run after catch but don't say anything about his five broken tackles on fourth down going into the endzone. And then they don't mention how we dominated that game. Any thoughts or am I just looking into this way too much?

I think you're looking way too much into it. Even when they show Hodge, they mention that we won, and say plenty, if not more good stuff about State than Ole Miss.

And it was a great catch- he was covered and the ball was behind the defender, underthrown, and he reaches behind Washington, and catches it while falling to the gound.

Bumphis's catch and run was spectacular as well. The ball was thrown to high- he catches it, slips out of three tackles, outruns a couple of guys, makes a couple of moves, and scores. On a fourth down no less.

and as a side note -- they didn't show Dixon's up-and-over in our highlight package, which I thought was odd. They're usually all over those kinds of plays.

And after seeing the play tonight, I agree with you about the Hodge catch. When I saw it live, I thought it was all luck, but in slow motion it looks like he did that on purpose. Damn fine play.

as school up north. The other announcer said "you can't say that" or something but the other one kept saying it and didn't once say ole miss. The other announcer did say "that's ole miss" at one point. What made it even more hilarious is that the announcer saying it didn't even say WHY he was referring to them as school up north, nor was Mullen's locker room clock or pre-game hype mentioned. Great stuff.

It was a great play by Hodge, and one I thought was going to be tough for us to come back from right before the half. Mullen was smart to run the clock out and go to the locker room at that point, despite the protests from fans around me. You don't mess around with 1 minute left and no passing game after they made a play like that. And it worked, we went into the locker room, gathered ourselves, and came out and whipped them in the second half.

If there is one thing I hate is fans who can't admit a good play. These guys work their asses off and some of them are just amazing athletes. No matter what uniform he wears Shay Hodge is an great receiver. Perfectly covered he reached under the chest of the defensive back, tipped the ball up over the defender and then while hitting the ground and rolling over keeps his eye on the ball and manages to catch it. It was completely intentional (i.e. not lucky) and one of the best catches of the year. I'm as happy as anyone we beat Ole Miss but this type of ******** just cheapens it. We beat a good team today with a few amazing players and one laughably terrible QB. Let's not take anything away from that.

...in a blowout loss to Indianapolis.

Indianapolis is usually the team that is sitting at home in the postseason and the Browns are the ones in the playoffs these days.

Hodge made a great play in a loss & made one of the plays of the day, but the announcers ragging on "!$$*" was funny as hell, & they made it cleat UM was on the losing side even w/ that great play.........the whole exchange was funny as hell

In about a 45 second to a minute highlight clip of the eggbowl game, UM was referred to as "*@!%" about 5 times, & once as "ole miss" by the other announcer, & it was kind of a whispered addition

If anything, I would say they were jabbing your preseason ranking, your season, & getting man-handled on the field, & the fact that y'all pissed away a good bowl berth opportunity.

Seriously?

Wouldn't they more likely be making fun of a #4 preseason-flop?

Guess not in your universe.

a beatdown. State dominated Mississippi in almost every phase of the game, and the score really could have been worse.

I know this is tough to hear, but the sooner you admit it and deal with it, the better. Trust me, I just completed a full year of zen rehab after that debacle in Oxford last year.

It basically sealed the win so we could run the clock out. I haven't seen anyone do anything like that since Reggie Bush. It wasn't like the defender dove at his legs.

I love it when he said you can't say that. Maybe this beat down with help them get our name right. Plus you can't get the school from up north confused with us when talking about Ole Miss and Mississippi State but they will.
