I mean what is there to say at this point, another soft target compromised.

Prayers for the victims, their families, and first responders.

Arm teachers, administrators, and church leaders.

Remove soft targets.that target children and worshipers, regardless of faith or creed if the congregation agrees.

You will never remove evil from the world, but search for ways to hinder it.

That's why I pack. I have never had to use my weapon, and I hope I never am forced to. But crazy people like Guy House come in and shoot some church on Old Richmond Road. I know the victims (not well), and my cousin knows the perp. I go to church, and we have a security team. I would say happy ending, but two innocent lives were taken, and many more are shattered. There are people on his FB page that are almost excusing it. It's possible that he has a connection with the church, because it's weird that he would go to some small Church on ORR.

I don't think this is officially confirmed yet but it appears the two dead were his ex and her mother. He and his ex appear to have a special needs daughter who is now orphaned. 😢

I’m not sure that it makes any of this better, but the Herald leader article says that he killed the mom and sister of his children’s mom. So luckily their 3 kids are not orphaned. Still awful.

He was looking for the mother of his kids, and when she was not there, he shot her mother. Then he went outside and shot her sister, then the Pastor (Mother's husband) and the sister's husband. He had a DV court date today. House had an extensive criminal history, and was released in January. Should have been locked up; if the three-strikes law were in place, he would have been where he belonged. In Prison. One of the purposes of prison is to protect society from scumbags like House. The mother of his children had filed an EPO on him. Situations like these are why I am extremely pro Second Amendment, and Pro Three Strikes Law.

Yep....had a long rap sheet as well, and was recently put on probation by Judge Julie Goodman.

From the Lex Herald....

Guy House’s criminal history

House was first convicted of a crime in 1999, when he pleaded guilty to one count of robbery and two counts of theft. Court records indicate he was sentenced to 10 years in prison. In February 2023, House was sentenced to two years of probation by Fayette Circuit Judge Julie Goodman after accepting guilty plea deals in four criminal cases, according to court documents. The charges from the cases included theft of mail matter, first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree fleeing/evading police, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, auto theft and first-degree criminal mischief. House was ordered to work a full-time job, consent to random drug testing, enter drug court and comply with all rules and regulations with the Division of Probation and Parole as part of his probation, according to court documents.

In August 2024, just a few months before the end of his probation period, House tested positive for methamphetamine and marijuana, violating the terms of his probation, according to court documents. Two months later, House further violated the terms of his probation by testing positive for drugs two more times and being charged with a misdemeanor.

An order to revoke House’s probation and a warrant for his arrest were filed in November 2024, according to court records.

House was then released from his probation in January 2025 after meeting all the terms and conditions of his probation, according to court documents. In total, House has been convicted of at least seven crimes, according to court records.

Whoever released this criminal from probation when he violated it in multiple ways and on many different occasions should be banned from the practice of law and banned from any public office for life.

Why should this POS get free room and board plus? He doesn't. He's shown repeatedly no respect for the law and therefore no respect for other people. He's continued to arm himself and engage in illegal activity. He clearly is intending to use the firearm by possessing it knowing he could and should be jailed for the violation. He never should have been given probation, but he also shouldn't get to live debt free.

Strike 3 should be the death penalty. I'm tired of the avoidance and the excuses people make for violent criminals.

If a non-violent felon has a handgun at their home for self-defense, I'm ok with that being allowed (put into law) conditional to them not violating with another offense. However, them simply taking the gun out of the home should allow them to be shot on sight.

The only deterrent for a repeat offender is death. 2 strikes> 3rd offense is mandatory death sentence with no appeals. Put that law on the books and save the country billions.

If you've ever talked to one, and especially a violent one, you know it's true. They aren't afraid of going to jail. They aren't afraid of probation or the terms. They're going to violate them anyway.

Yeah. That JLR guy and some others pushed the narrative that he was an Islamic convert who attacked a church, even when it was obviously a probable domestic violence incident (the church attack, at least).

A great example to not believe anything you see on twitter.

Violent people should be in jail. Race, religion, creed, none of it matters. If there’s not room, building more prisons is money very well spent.

Until we hold judges liable, nothing will improve. Nobody seems to ever ask what the common beliefs are that these judges hold, and why they seem to make such horrifically wrong decisions. The judge should serve time or be open to a personal suit from the victims’ family.

He should have been in prison. Just a total loser that deserved to be dead. He should have just killed himself. Instead, he kills two people in a Church. Shoots a Cop.

That Church is across the street from Boonedogs. My Wife and I had lunch there the day before the murders took place. (Saturda)

Hate to break it to ya but in America, everywhere is a "soft target." Stores, concerts, theaters, churches, schools, parks. Buddy, you cannot arm everyone with the message of "if someone starts shooting, shoot back." Life isn't a western.

I've said this in the past - my high school had two levels and several long hallways. If someone were to open fire in one of those hallways or in one of the dozens of rooms, the echo of gunfire would confuse everyone and very few would be able to immediately take action against the gunman. The sounds of gunfire echoed off several buildings during the Vegas massacre, leading to mass confusion, mass casualties, and everyone with a different story as to which direction the person was firing from. It's so easy to just post "arm everyone" without thinking of a real life situation.

Finally, as we saw in Texas, cops were too afraid to engage with a shooter. You expect teachers, administrators, and pastors to take immediate and swift action?

No, I don't have a solution but I hope you understand the rest of the world is looking at America and wondering why this keeps happening and then is likely shaking their head with a chuckle as Americans come up with "more guns need to be added to the (chaotic) situation" and "well here's what you do - give every teacher and preacher a gun." I love westerns too but I dunno, man.

I fully appreciate what you are saying, while I am a gun enthusiast I do not believe more guns are always the answer.

True story.

I am of the mindset though of the old adage, better to have one and not need it, than to need one and not have it.

Also, one of the very last things I would ever want is to have to shoot someone, but also know i would do so without hesitation to protect my family or an innocent.

As Imsaid in my OP, there will always be evil in this world, but doesn't mean it doesn't suck.

Peace!

Are you serious? I have seen some crazy **** posted on this site, but that may be bottom 10. I can think of maybe 1000 reasons why that is a really bad idea.

Federal judges get appointed for life, while state judges in Kentucky at least are elected, you have every right to ask them all the questions you want. One problem is that the general public has very little idea what judges do, until a random case lands on the news.

This incident had zero to do w/ the church being a soft target. He went there looking for someone, and it just so happened to be at a church. It could have been at a park, work, home, etc. He did not target the church.

Having a security team is reasonable. He comes to my church, and he does not make it outside to shoot the three other people. Having a security team at school is reasonable. The Cops at Uvalde should be charged with aiding and abetting; it's their job to apprehend the shooter, and failure to do so should have consequences. Yes, if you're scared to shoot a gun, you should not have one. While I hope to never be forced into a situation where I have to engage, I will do it. That's part of the responsibility to owning/carrying a weapon.
