In fact, someone doesn't even have to pay you for them, and you don't even have to specifically claim a copyright. It's automatically copyrighted unless youspecifically put it in the public domain. I actually thinkthe postI'm writing right now is copyrighted.57StratDawg said:In other words, just because people pay for your words - doesn't make them copyrighted.
Maybe I'm confusing copyrights with patents, but I thought you had to get things copyrighted ahead of time, andthecopyrights are issued dates/numbers ect. Maybe Rivals/Scout network has the copyright on the premium content posted on its network(?). Even if thats the case, then the lawsuit would have to be brought by Rival's lawyers, not some random poster on the the Spirit. What does copyright protect?
Copyright, a form of intellectual property law, protects original works of authorship including literary, dramatic, musical, and artistic works, such as poetry, novels, movies, songs, computer software, and architecture. Copyright does not protect facts, ideas, systems, or methods of operation, although it may protect the way these things are expressed. See Circular 1, Copyright Basics, section "What Works Are Protected."
