“Our biggest problem as far as black Americans — I deal with
finances every day — it’s not someone outside of us. It’s the black
communities themselves,” Franks said.

Franks said he was tired of
excuses.

“Blaming somebody else don’t pay anybody, don’t do
anything for my wife, me making excuses of why the white man won’t do
this or the Mexican man won’t do this,” he said. “OK. We all have the
power to create something. God created all of us to go do something, and
it’s time for us to do something about it.”

but you can't spend 3 days at the Capitol without hearing David Jordan go on a 20 minute racial rant from the Senate floor.

Par for the course.

That was brutal to read. The article bounced all over the place on subjects.

Since im not from MS nor lived in MS outside of my half decade of college, forgive my ignornace on this- Is it common for politicians down there to just have a Q&A session like this? Do they really just start discussing anything at any time?

If so, that is pretty interesting. Itd be instant death if they did it here, their words would come back to haunt em every time. But itd be interesting to hear what they think in an unfiltered way.

As for the content of that guy's rants, i am so happy i dont have to read about or deal with race on a daily basis in terms of politics and local government. It helps that i live in an overall lilly white state, but where i live is much more diverse, yet race is the vocalized driving force behind very few comments by leaders, much less within speeches given to large groups.
I will never understand the obsession with skin color and how it defines us any more than hair color. Hell, accents should define us more. Those arent inherent.
Oh well.

in making overtly racist comments in a public forum. Hell, this stupid MFer could F a goat in the local COGIC church parking lot and get re-elected. His constituents would esteem his choice of goats and his goat effing technique.
