through its athletic department through last week, U of L has sold 10,000". Thats pathetic, Louisville is 4.5 hrs further away and you would think the Eagles have a lot larger fan base in this part of the country.

You would think this would be a big game for USM to have the chance to get revenge for Louisville abandoning the Metro Conference USA.

Their fanbase was whining to their athletic administrators about how they wanted to go anywhere other than the New Orleans Bowl, and this is how they repay them. They are gonna lose a good chuck of money by going to the Beef Bowl. Oh, but they still think they deserve an invite to the Big East or Big 12.

but you can bet your *** that they will be all geeked up for us when we come to hattiesburg. It will be interesting to see how many tickets their fans buy after their administration jacks the price of the ticket up for our game with them.

We should have at least 10,000 fans there for that game, and I could see as high as 15,000 if their fans decide to make a little money off the tickets.

who is a huge USM fan. It's just two games, and like you say they should be easy wins. It's not going to do anything to help USM any more than their games with teams like Nebraska, Texas A&M, Kansas, NC State, etc.helped them. People really should quit bitching about it cause it's just not that big of a deal.

because USM will treat that game by far and away their biggest of the year. There will be no doubt about that. It will be a definite challenge for our guys to match their intensity level simply because the game will not mean to us what it will mean to them. Even this year, after a poor showing at SC, USM went 8-3 the rest of the way with those 3 losses being by a combined 8 points (including 2 one point losses). So while USM is definitely not SEC caliber they are still no pushover.

If Croom was still coach I'd go ahead and chalk it up as a loss. And we can't afford to play them once we get into the meat of the SEC schedule, because we will be down like we were vs. UAB.</p>

I can't wait to see how people like you react. Because you can bet that USM will be telling every recruit, massing on message boards, and generally being huge pricks about it. Regardless of how you feel about the game it was stupid because, and yes I'll say this again for the 10 millionth time, it's a no win situation for us. Even admitting they exist is doing them a favor, this game is a mistake.

That's my only complaint. I can understand that politics may have put it out of reach, but it seems likeMSU should have had the leverage to do a 2 for 1 or probably even more fair considering what it would cost for a CUSA buy game, get an option on a 2 for 1 after the home and home, with a payment for the extra MSU home game that recognizes some of the revenue that MSU is shoveling to USM through ticket sales.A home and home is pretty favorable to USM if there is no payment or other consideration going to MSU, and MSU isn't exactly in a position to be making transfers to other programs.A home and home, with anMSU option on a 2 for 1 after that seems like it's fair. IfMSU exercises the option and itends up with3 home games out of a five game series, I don't see how anybody at USM could (reasonably) complain about that.

I live in Hattiesburg and have close ties to USM. I'm glad were are playing them. It's just another game on the schedule. It's there now so why *****. Handle our business and beat their *** like we are supposed to and move on. It will mean something to us at the end of the year if we lose but so will any other non conference game. Ole miss should play them too.

in high school? It must be tough always thinking of the negative, but then again you are MSU. Look you guys have every advantage over that little school down south, man up and act like it! Beat the hell out of them even on a down week just like you would UAB, Tulane or Houston. You do know that you are the "Ole Miss" in this equation don't you? Act like it! Grow some hair and just "giter done" and quit the excuse making before the games are even played. Remember guys, you have the gazillion fans, they only have nine, you have the SEC money and tradition, they have CUSA-Metro-Indy money and tradition, your stadium is the onepacked every saturday, theirs is empty (except for the 21 Tulane-UAB-Memphis visitors) and you have Mullins who will surely still be at his dream job, who knows what loser they will have coaching by then with their minimum wage job. So see guys, just act like men (even if your not quite there yet) and just ignore them, just like your friends up north ignore you. All will be OK. By the way, just also ignore some redheaded step child who is sure to come on here and point out that they have bought more bowl tickets in the last 10 years than even the migthy bulldogs.

and shut the $%#% up. In a small state with WAY too many schools I don't want us to have to compete with anyone except Ole Miss. Sorry, but it's true. We should not even acknowledge that USM exists. It's not childish, it's the right thing to do for MSU.

1. We're not likely to lose.
2. Even if we did lose, recruits wouldn't care. They still wouldn't go to USM unless neither MSU or UM (or any other BCS school) offered.

Seriously, they're a non-entity to us and they're going to stay that way after we play these 2 games just the same as they are now.

There's just them and "yall" and you do to much bitching about lil' ole mississippi southern. By the way,I do hope youwin your octo-annual bowl game against a third rateteam from the north.Really guys I do love the excitement in the stark, if anyone needed a little success it was you!Just try to hang on next year when everyoneknows your coming.
