When was the last time Bird wasn't in the Virginia Preps top 10? Danny, do you know?

I would say 1998 but they may have been top 10 even then... Are you speaking of the Richmond area, 5a in general, or the state? I can tell you I would have Bird in there before Hampton if we are talking 5A this season.

I think I can tell you why Hampton stayed in, and Bird dropped.

Bird got beat by a team one Class down, Hampton got beat by a team one Class above them. I know that is an important factor when they calculate their polls.

Maybe so but the Penn district is waaay down and Hampton lost to a 3a! An undefeated 3a but as I said I am not sure they would be 6-4 in a Richmond District.

Sure they would. They would just recruit all the best players in Richnomd and be awesome. No Bishop Sulivan to compete with! (I didn't say that out loud, did I?)

This year's Phoebus team isn't a slouch. Factor in Hampton vs. Phoebus is one of the biggest rivalry games in the 757... don't put much stock in the Crabbers losing that game...HOWEVER, the Heritage (NN) and the Woodside games were most telling to me as far as Hampton is concerned. The Heritage score was too close and the Woodside loss doesn't look good to me.

That QB Phoebus has is gonna be really good as he gets older, just a sophomore I believe. Chris Daniels.
