What are everyone's thoughts, realistically, on this unit? I think bear is going to have a breakout year.

Tubby, Bear, and Downtown Fred Brown should have a great year. Those guys can catch in coverage. Fred Ross is another possibility. Rojo is like old ironsides and there's Morrow. I think Gabe Myles could also contribute and may surprise. Good group overall.

Bear and Lewis are going to be really, really good IMO. Need 2 of Ross, morrow, Johnson, brown, christy, and Hammond to step up this year. If they do, our offense could be one of the best in the sec

If we don't have a 1,000 yard receiver I'll be shocked. That alone should give you a tingling sensation...... A 1,000 yard receiver at MSU.

Slot guys get freak numbers in a run style spread like the one Mullen runs.

If this is indeed Florida's Tebow offense, Riley Cooper played that outside receiver position and racked up 1,000 yards his final season. Tubby and Bear should combine for some numbers. RoJo's importance won't show up on a stat sheet, but he'll have a lot to do with our success over the top and between the tackles. That includes MoJo too I guess.

I think morrow

finally turns it on this year. I know it was just the spring game, but he actually caught some passes. That's a huge upgrade to where he was.

Solid in the slot. Bear is the first glimmer of hope for a split end in a long time. Can Rojo balance the field? Morrow has turned into a good possession receiver - maybe he's getting the deep ball down. Looking forward to seeing what Fred Brown and Gabe Miles can contribute (and possibly Graham).

Who can stretch the field?

Is Hollaway catching passes out of the backfield?

How much will they use Mojo and Samuel?

If we don't use mojo and Samuel, I'll be very disappointed. Both could be very effective in the middle bc teams will have to zone us (dak's running ability).

Interested in whether hutcherson will be receiving threat or help our tackles.

My hope, and this goes for all position groups, is that we ride our true talent.

Most of you are correct. Jameon, Bear, Brown, RoJo, Ross and Morrow (in that order) should provide us with an outstanding attack this year.

We all know what Jameon and Bear are bringing to the table. Brown showed an impressive ability to get his body in position and fight for the ball last year, good hands. Reminds me of a little bigger Arceto Clark. Ross has loads of potential. As much as I hate to say it, Morrow shouldnt find himself on the field much outside of jump ball situations, and really we have Bear and MJ to cover that anyway.

Which leads to one of my biggest complaints about Mullen's teams. The hockey-style line-change approach we take to subs. It has been a gripe of mine since I first noticed it the first few years. Admittedly, the talent wasn't distinguished enough to throw a fit over a line change, but now it is. You want to keep people fresh? Rotate them one at a time in a staggered pattern. Don't run a freaking whole series with Morrow, Christy, Hammond and Jameon at WR and Holloway at RB (AND I PROMISE you we will do this on the reg).

Same goes for the DL, LB, and CB.

My blood pressure is rising just thinking about it.

I'd bet against a 1,000 yard receiver only because I think we're going to have a good enough group that the ball will be spread around a lot. I think Tubby will be close but hope that we have several with good numbers behind him.

If Dak reaches 3,000 it's almost a sure thing that someone has 1,000. I think we'll have a lot of guys with 300-400 yards, but 2 starters should have a chunk.

Joe morrow is a complete bust. I say give some of the younger guys a chance or ride the talent in bear and tubby and rojo. I just don't trust morrow to make the catches in the clutch. For jump ball it's Malcolm Johnson or bear all day.

The kid is going into his Jr. year. He caught a pass in almost of the games last year. He's somebody who can move the chains. His size isn't all about winning the jump ball.

Agree 100%. Morrow is a big body possession WR. He's not going to stretch the field and doesn't appear to be that jump ball guy like people predicted 3 years ago.

The only way you can call Morrow a bust is if you believed the hype the fans (along with scout's rating) created for him. Rivals had him rated a 2-star until he committed to us and got the typical SEC bump to a 3-star. For comparison, rivals had Moncrief rated a top 20 WR in 2011. Morrow was around 75 --- about the same as Devin Fosselman, Taveze Calhoun, and Collins Moore (UM). He was never supposed to be a future All-SEC talent.

Oh wow I must recant my statement now. Joe morrow caught A pass in almost all our games. That's incredible. Put that man on the heisman watch list. The truth is he doesn't use his size. He has hands of stones, and show me a clip of one game he was a deciding factor in. Show me tape of him actually catching a pass when it matters. You guys should demand a little better. I'm tired of you girls be great happy and citing morale victories.

Tubby had 10 catches 2 years ago (his so. year). Tubby sucked hard his Jr. year.** He's a bust.**

Nobody is calling Morrow a heisman contender. But we're calling you an idiot - 4 sho.

Morrow's going to be important these next two years. He's on the same trajectory as Rojo. I'll go out and say that he outperforms RoJo this season. Bookmark it!

Yeah, at CB. Morrow was rated by rivals as the 73rd best WR in the 2011 class and Calhoun was rated as the 78th best WR.

He was never supposed to be the difference maker at WR that he's been hyped up to be. Would you call Brandon Heavens a bust? He was an average 3-star WR that contributed a handful of catches and yards each year. He wasn't supposed to break records, and he didn't. But he gave us what he could for 4 years.

Morrow is an average WR, but everyone overhyped him because of his height - he was a giant on a roster full of WRs shorter than 6ft. Unfortunately height alone doesn't make you a great WR.

Your the village idiot (and this place is full of them) for believing morrow will contribute. I'll bump this thread midway through when he goes catch less and he isn't starting but Rojo is. Ross and brown will likely outperform him also along with Rojo, tubby, and bear.

I'm not ready

to call the kid a bust after only two years. I'm not saying he's going to be the next Jerry Rice. I'm not saying he's not been a disappointment, either. However, he still has plenty of time to get better. Let's at least wait till after this year before he's labeled a "complete bust."

Josey, I may not proof every post cause I'm a busy man. With that said, I assure you I've gone further in school than you and your boyfriend combined. I would also wager I probably make your yearly salary in a month. Not trying to be a dick but I win at life.

You win @ life and message board pissing contests. Is that you, Hugh? "Win the Day!" you always say!** You win at life with misogynistic and homophobic slurs... because someone said that an underclassman WR is not a bust. Here's to you, Real Man of Genius!**

I wish you were busy enough to watch some football games and to make a thoughtful comment. You're really making a name for yourself with these 14 posts. Next month you'll come in here with a different user name like assclown2010.

And by the way, assclown2010, I have an MSU degree and 9 years higher education. Based on the level of aptitude you've shown in this thread, I doubt that you make more than I do in a month. But you might be rolling in daddy's money. I bet big daddy still has to wipe that *** for ya...

Even if anything you just said was remotely true we still wouldn't give a ****. All you're doing is opening yourself to further ridicule. I suggest you take your 24 English section ACT score and your 78k car and sit the next few rounds out.

My parents quit helping me out when I turned 30 thank you very much. You guys have no idea how hard it is to be only the 3rd richest kid growing up in my private school. You don't have the faintest clue how hard it was driving to the country club in my 2 year old BMW for my tennis lessons and seeing my neighbors get out in their new Mercedes.

As for football knowledge let me just drop my credentials here. In pop Warner I was a beast and defensive back. A mix between Smoot and banks. 3 int's that year in a run driven league. My senior year I was in shape and ready to play high school football but a nasty turf toe injury kept me out.
I was at state during the Croom years so I know how to win and know how to recruit. Recruiting young men that go to class and play hard is obviously a formula we need to follow. Does anyone know if morrow goes to class? I bet he doesn't. Judging by interviews I can tell tubby does and bear does.
Hope that sheds some light on things. Feel free to pick my brain about season predictions. I'll make you rich.
