Anyone paying $6 per match to watch Backlash tonight? It still amazes me that they survived charging $50 a month back in the day. That combined with the whole Katie Vick thing made me quit watching wrestling for 15 years.

I get that espn app through spectrum for free or there is no way I’d pay for the WwE PLEs.

Pretty good take…

Killer Kross spoke out about WWE’s latest round of releases, saying he especially feels for talent who were cut while “not being utilized.” He explained that many casual fans don’t understand how little control performers actually have, saying “your hands are not really on the wheel in the way you'd think.”

Kross said a wrestler’s reputation is often shaped more by creative presentation than talent, noting that “the perception of equity is based on how you're presented, it's not about what you can actually do.” He added that without “the very specific opportunities to maestro the audience,” fans can wrongly assume certain wrestlers “don’t have it.”

He strongly defended the talent level inside WWE, emphasizing that “Everyone who's in WWE is really, really good” and that “there are no people in the company that shouldn't be there.” Kross also pointed out that fans rarely see the difficult journey performers endure before making it to WWE, saying they’ve all “survived a plethora of stuff that nobody saw before the cameras turned on.”

Kross closed by saying many released stars unfairly carry a negative perception after leaving the company, even though “it’s really actually not their fault.” He criticized unrealistic fan expectations, saying people think wrestlers should have “a WrestleMania level match” in only “seven minutes with a commercial break in the middle,” but stressed that “it doesn't work that way.”

I would think it would be hard to only be wrestling 2 or 3 matches per month and still stay sharp in the ring. With there being no house shows anymore, that's all some of them are doing if that even. I know there is Main Event but other than that, when would they wrestle in a real match.

Yup house shows kept everyone sharp and people wonder why there’s botch fests.

There was nothing left for Edge in WWE and he likely wanted a lot of money in the process. I thought he'd be a much bigger deal in AEW too but it hasn't happened. I skipped out on a lot of his run on SD. It says something when Matt Hardy, Lita, her cleavage, a live sex show, a theme song, and an announcer saying "RATED R SOOOOOOPERSTAR" are the things I think about when Edge's singles run is brought up. His hair in AEW is terrible too. He looks like Otis in that photo but better.

SD is absolutely lost. Jelly Roll segments a month ago and a funeral for what I assume is the character from Shrek last night. Still, it doesn't matter - Backlash tonight has nearly 15,000. That train's gonna keep on rolling.

During last night’s in ring segment with Lash Legend, Nia Jax, Fatal Influence, Brie Bella and Paige, Nia struck Paige in the head with a microphone.

What wasn’t seen on camera is the shot opened Paige up pretty badly, so much so that she needed stitches backstage after the incident.

I guess Nia’s back to busting people open again eh ?
How the hell do you screw up a mic shot?

The setup for Collision at this indoor golf course is pretty cool. It’s worth checking out some highlights just to see that if you have no interest in AEW otherwise.

Darby title defense was also made to be no count out so they are going to go all over that place

So apparently there are matches and the fans can just vote the loser of the match to win? The hell is the point in even having a match of wins and losses don’t even matter?

I wonder if ESPN told them to get this over early so people will go watch the basketball game on ABC. Why else would this be over this early.

I looked it up and UFC's main card event begins at 9pm. If there's any crossover, wrestling fans can immediately switch to that or stick with the WWE post show stuff if you're a hardcore. TKO loves showcasing both companies in one night.

I’ll say this despite wwe bad booking Fatu is being booked better than he would have been in AEW.
He’s one of the few that were better off signing with WWE.

Glenn was talking about house shows and I think it’s an underlying theme in general with athletics.

Back in the 70s/80s/90s very few major athletes or wrestlers were injured now in the last 15-20 years more pro athletes and wrestlers are injured more often than not.

Anyone who is kind of Samoan would be booked better in wWE, except Samoa Joe.
Samoa Joe was great in nxt and I think he was kinda upper mid card on main roster but once he got hurt they kinda soured on him.

WWE really holds injuries against you unless your a tippy top talent.

For example Liv is the only woman I can think of that’s still getting main belts even charlotte isn’t anymore after her knee injury.

I think a lot of it has to do with the growing specialization and the earlier specialization. Different sports work different muscles and joints that can't be replicated just by going to the gym and doing general workouts and workouts specific to the person's chosen sport.

A lot of kids these days commit to one sport before the even get to high school, sometimes even before middle school, so they don't get that experience of playing multiple sports as much as they used to. Plus the growing influence of the racket of summer travel teams further decreases the opportunities one can commit to multiple sports.
