WTF? Players staying in hotel rooms?

I kinda get the move to the South Farm, but are the players really staying in hotel rooms ala the NFL?

Mississippi State moved into training camp mode Saturday morning, with players leaving their hotel rooms early en route to a makeshift practice field across campus at the intramural fields. It's all part of an effort from first-year coach Dan Mullen to make this week, the last before fall semester classes begin Aug. 17, unique.

The players are staying at the new Hilton and being served all of their meals at the hotel each day. Helps to induce more team-bonding during two-a-days...

If we can afford to do it for an extended period, great! Also, it minimizes the chance of a knucklehead move by being out late drinking, etc.
