(May 17, 2017) – </strong>The Mountaineer Athletic Club (MAC) hosts the 35th Annual WVU Classic in Charleston, presented by Lumos Networks, on June 8-9, in Charleston, West Virginia.</p><p></p><p></p><p>An annual stop on the WVU MAC Coaches Caravan, the two-day event opens with a golf practice round on Thursday, June 8, at Berry Hills Country Club. New this year, the Coaches Caravan and Pairings Party follows from 6:30 – 9:30 p.m. at the Charleston Tennis Club. Here, participants will have the opportunity to meet, greet and visit with a variety of WVU coaches, and each golf team will be paired with a former student-athlete, a current coach or athletic department staff member.</p><p></p><p></p><p>A players’ breakfast will be held at 8 a.m. Friday at Berry Hills Country Club, with a 10 a.m. shot-gun start immediately following. Additionally, a tennis tournament will be held from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. Friday, also at Berry Hills Country Club.</p><p></p><p></p><p>“We are very excited to host the 35th annual WVU Classic at Berry Hills,” Ben Murray, WVU MAC Senior Associate Athletic Director/Executive Director, said. “This event, in addition to our golf tournaments in Naples, Florida, and Bridgeport, West Virginia, collectively generate more than $100,000 in scholarship support for our student-athletes. Our coaches and former Mountaineer student-athletes really enjoy spending time with our supporters in the Charleston area. We look forward to seeing everyone again at Berry Hills Country Club in June.”</p><p></p><p></p><p>Golf packages include green fees, cart and access to the locker room for Thursday’s practice round and Friday’s scramble. Breakfast and lunch will be provided on Friday, and the event will conclude with a post-round reception and award ceremony.
