GAME THREAD WVU vs. Penn State (Charity Exhibition Game)

Not certain this is a blowout. They went on a run and now lead by 12, but we've been in the game and will likely make yet another run. I think they've led by about a 3-5 point average throughout, and they are certainly playing better as a team than we are. Looks like we're having some jitters and communication errors. Hopefully, this game pays dividends moving forward.
Dang, we are really going to miss JC and Dax more than expected. Our offense is non-existent. Our defense is pathetic. Our rebounding is horrid. And worst of all, our effort absolutely stinks.
McCabe looked like the best PG option after the 1st half. We have no threat from deep on the offensive side. With our length, we should be dominating the boards but we aren't because we are getting out-hustled and out-efforted.
Huggs has his work cut out for him this year.

You have to keep in mind who is playing and who's not, but the trouble spot is the effort on defense and lack of movement, both player and ball, on offense.
Is there continuation in college basketball? Penn St kid pump fakes, gets fouled, whistle blows, play is dead, he is still solid (both feet on the ground), he now jumps up and lays it in and is awarded the basket.
First half seemed like a scrimmage -- let everybody play, let everybody take a shot, try different combinations in the lineup -- second half has feel of a game that counts in the standings. Fans starting to get into it.
Lots of newbies. This is a good learning situation. Huggs will have them ready for Buffalo when it counts.
Better effort, still lost. Hopefully we get our defensive miscues and lack of rebounding fixed. Not to mention get Bolden and Culver in there.
Relax it’s early November and we actually played a real power 5 team in a exhibition. We usually play Wheeling Jesuit in November exhibitions.
Beetle was out and Culver was out. Beetle is needed heavy in November as McCabe and Knapper work out the kinks. They will get better quickly. Relax.
Remember last year even Jevon Carter got bum rushed by an average Texas A&M team in opener. They quickly recovered and improved.
By December WVU will look way better. You’ll see. It’s early folks. If Beetle plays we win easy.

Flatness and lack of timing is the usual issues in early November. It was a exhibition game against a real team. We will improve quickly. This game doesn’t count.
We will be national title contender. Let’s get everybody healthy and playing first and get our key newcomers some time to adjust. Relax. We’re loaded. In a few weeks they will get fine tuned.
There is some talent here, but not yet a team. Esa looks like he is in better condition and ready to lead. Not too sure about Konate trying to extend his range. No defense against the dribble drive and kick and boxing out on the defensive boards was pretty bad. Culver and Beetle out with injuries and no appearance as of yet of Doomes. What is up with him? I already miss Jevon and Dax but will just have to enjoy watching the new kids learn about competition at a new level.

We play cupcakes every year in exhibitions. We would lose every year in exhibitions if we play real power 5 teams like yesterday. We usually play Wheeling College or some little program in exhibitions. We always are flat early on and need time to get jelled up. Relax folks it’s early November and we actually played a good team in a exhibition. Give the guys time to knock off the rust, kinks. It’s early November for a God’s sake.
