WVU will struggle to make the NCAA tournament

I'm very concerned about the most important position PG.

Carter is better playing off the ball.
Myers is new with zero Big12 experience
Phillip zero confidence he can play PG consistently in the Big12

Unless Carter completely redefines his game I'm afraid PG will be WVU's downfall this season.

Staten was an All American calibre PG and you don't just replace a player like that especially with a bunch of SGs and expect to win in a league like the Big12

I hope I'm wrong and I will gladly admit if I am about this but I just don't see a capable "true PG" on this team that can carry the load in clutch situations at the end of games.

Huggs has been playing with Phillip at PG and Carter at the 2 a whole lot in practice and in the scrimmage

I think Carter gets close to 30 minutes a game now that Beetle is out but only about 10-12 of that at PG...

Tarik will be fine. He is in the mold of JD Collins.... Wont make the flashy play, but does the simple stuff and is always thr toughest kid on the court

Huggs said yesterday that a lot of the TOs from the scrimmage attributed to our PGs were actually due to other players being lazy and not working hard enough to either get open or come meet the ball when the pass was in the air..... He also said we must pass better though too

23-8

11-2 in OOC

12-6 in B12

We easily make the NCAA Tourney.

Settle down. This team will be fine and in the tournament. Huggs has time to put a plan together, it's not like they lost a pg mid season and have to adjust on the fly.

No doubt losing Staten (and Brown who was a valuable 4 year contributor) is an issue. I expect we will not be as strong at PG as the last 2 years. We should, though, be better everywhere else.

I think we make Tourney, fairly comfortably.

21-10, (10-8, conference)
win 1 in the Big 12 tournament.
8 seed
2nd round NCAA
23-12 final

I think we are a year away from really making a run. If we don't lose anyone we will have everyone back except Holton and Paige and a ton of experience.

We already won when we replaced Staten last year, didn't you watch the end of the regular season?

You stand corrected my friend. The West Virginia Mountaineers will have no trouble making the NCAA tourney this year. Huggins will have the team playing Huggy ball this time around. And you spell Huggy ball with a W.

We should have had a win in Phog Allen without Staten AND Browne last year if not for an epic meltdown from the free throw line, this team is capable of making a tournament that truly features some awful teams in it. The floor for this team is a 10 seed, realistically a 5 or 6.

Offense looked pretty dang good last night. Ball passing was terrific, haven't seen them pass the ball that well in quite long time. Yeah, I know Glenville State but still. Ball passing was nice. Even made shots. Team will be fine. To suggest no NCAA Tournament is lunacy. I see this team as another Sweet 16 team, maybe Elite 8 depending on matchups and avoiding UK again would be a great a start!

Next year's team should be scary good.
