(Nov. 23, 2025) – </strong>The No. 18 West Virginia University wrestling team defeated Rider, 25-10, to improve to 5-0 for the first time since 1992 on Sunday at Hope Coliseum in Morgantown.</p><p></p><p>Redshirt junior No. 20 Brody Conley had one of the best performances so far this year for West Virginia (5-0) in the 174-pound match.</p><p></p><p>After an early takedown against Rider’s Enrique Munguia, Conley quickly found himself down 6-3 after the first period. Munguia nearly pinned Conley for the fall, but Conley continuously fought back and survived the period to only trail after a four-point near fall.</p><p></p><p>The second period proved uneventful as Conley still trailed. An early reversal in the final period cut the deficit to one for Conley, and a stall warning tied the match at six with a little over one minute remaining.</p><p></p><p>Late in the period, Conley went on the offensive and turned the tide of the match to win by fall.</p><p></p><p>The Mountaineers earned wins in all but three weight classes on the day. Redshirt sophomore No. 1 Ty Watters (157) dominated to remain undefeated as he won by technical fall over Liam Scrivanich, 18-2.</p><p></p><p>Redshirt senior Jordan Titus earned his first ranked win of the season in the 141-pound match, as he defeated No. 19 Elijah Griffin by decision, 5-2. Redshirt freshman No. 27 Rune Lawrence (197) also earned a ranked victory for WVU, defeating No. 21 Brock Zurawski, 11-8, in sudden victory.</p><p></p><p>The two true freshmen in the starting lineup for WVU also earned victories. Freshman Gunner Andrick beat Will Betancourt in the 133-pound match by decision, 6-3, and freshman Brock Kehler defeated Steyn De Lange by decision, 4-2, in the heavyweight match.</p><p></p><p>Redshirt junior No. 17 Ian Bush (184) remained undefeated in dual competition as he rolled past JP Hangey. He won by technical fall, 16-0.</p><p></p><p>The last time West Virginia began a season 5-0, the Mountaineers finished 7-6 overall.
