(April 30, 2015)</strong> – Senior Juwan Staten was named Most Valuable Player of the WVU men’s basketball team at the squad’s 2014-15 banquet, held Wednesday in Morgantown.</p><p></p><p> Staten, who averaged 14.2 points and 4.6 assists per game, was named to the Lute Olson All-America Team and was a Senior CLASS Second Team All-American. He was named to the All-Big 12 First Team for the second year in a row, becoming the first WVU player to earn back-to-back first team all-conference honors since Greg Jones (1981-83).</p><p></p><p> The Big 12 Conference Preseason Player of the Year finished his WVU career with 1,260 points (26th all-time) and 433 assists (sixth all-time). Staten is one of six WVU players to post 1,000 points, 400 assists, 100 steals and 350 rebounds in a career.</p><p></p><p> Other award winners were Jevon Carter (Sixth Man and Best Defender), Devin Williams (Team Man), Gary Browne (Charge Leader), Tarik Phillip (Most Improved) and Daxter Miles Jr. (Unsung Hero).</p><p></p><p> The Mountaineers finished the 2014-15 season with 25 victories and reached the NCAA Sweet 16 for the sixth time in their last nine appearances.</p></blockquote><p></p>
