Really just a question about the Judds. Were they a big country group? I had never heard their songs in general and when I went to go look some of them up, I didnt recognize any of them. Wynonna Judd is doing the anthem for the bama game and she has a great voice so I hope she will do great. Are there any groups they would be comparable to in terms of fame? I just know they are from Ky. Did they tour regionally/nationally/state-wide? If it werent for their last tour banner up in Rupp and really because Ashley was on the hockey poster idk if I wouldve ever heard of them.

They were huge for a handful of years. Many hits. One of the biggest acts in country music for a short period. Then Wynonna went solo.

True story: I lived next door to Wynona’s grandfather for two years In Ashland, Ky.in ‘94 and ‘95. She was playing a concert in Louisville. We rode on a secondary tour bus (family and friends) to and from the concert. Wynonna came on the bus and talked to us for a while. Leanne Rimes was opening for her. After the concert, they had a birthday party for Leanne. She was 14. It was right after her #1 hit Blue had released.

Yes, they are Ashland legends. Ashley was 3 years ahead of me in school. The downtown square was named after them (Judd Plaza) til a few years ago when the moronic, progressive city commission decided to change it to Broadway Square.

She will be doing a 2-night concert series at the Paramount in Ashland on Oct 2 & 3. And, there’s a big downtown street party at the former Judd Plaza leading up to the shows, BOTH nights if I’m not mistaken. Kind of a slap in the face to Wynona, IMO, by having the event where they USED to have a street named after them.

Sorry, don’t mean to get political. Y’all just have no idea how f-ing stupid our city “leaders” are. They recently installed 5 mini roundabouts on consecutive blocks & killed downtown business, for one example. And, I hope one of you losers is reading this, too. Resign immediately!!

I'm a fan of her entire catalog, but my personal favorite of hers has always been "Taste My Stink."

They buy me whiskey, they buy me beer
But what they're really wantin' is sittin' right here

...

Every cowboy from here to Nashville
Is beggin' for a piece of this

They all just wanna taste the stink
And seal it with a kiss

I smell BS. The Judds had a style and this ain't it.

The lyrics are catchy, but not Judd like.

Can you name the album?

They were big as a duo in the 80s and kind of fell off in the 90s. Wynona went solo to mixed success.

It's an unreleased demo. Not surprised a fake fan like you hadn't heard of it before.

Another line:

Some girls want roses, some want champagne
I just want a man who ain't afraid of the stain

Those roundabouts look really bad, from the aerial photos I've seen. I haven't been downtown for a long time, and I don't think I want to negotiate that stretch during a busy time. I'm generally OK with roundabouts, but those seem like a really bad idea.

They were a horrible idea & the citizens made it very clear that nobody wanted them well before ground was broken. We told them in polls, posts, videos, etc. At LEAST 80% of the comments were highly negative when they first started talking about installing them.

I don’t have a problem with roundabouts either. But, these are just stupid & unnecessary. They are mini roundabouts. So, it’s just one lane & the circle is tiny. Ashland hasn’t had the traffic to justify those things in like 25-30 years.

Plus, you’re gonna put them on 5 blocks in a row?!?! Lmfao. It’s literally a ghost town now, downtown, & half the city intentionally avoids them out of spite. Myself included, lol. I can’t decide if our city government is more corrupt or more mind numbingly stupid. They have a healthy amount of both, though.

I think you're right, there's a lot of corruption and stupidity running that town.

I hate the roundabouts and now avoid Winchester Avenue downtown. I'm not too fond of the weird Occult looking statues at the riverfront either.

Ashley was 2 years ahead of me at Ashland btw. There is a pretty good chance I might remember you if I knew your actual identity.

Ashland was a bustling town years ago. Two things caused its demise both tied to City Council ideas.
1-they would not allow alcohol in town so no resturant could serve a glass of wine or mixed drink to its customers.
people at companies like Ashland Oil, Armco and other companies had to go elsewhere for a nice dinner.
2-the City is on the river but the political winds never developed any kind a waterfront development that would help the city financially and be a draw for other businesses. When AOI, Solvy and Armco left, the city shriveled up.
Ashland could’ve been a major city with all that industry and natural location to a river and major highway.

sad.

It went from a four lane to a two lane as well. It is a PITA to drive through there now and there was no good reason to do it. The businesses on Winchester have suffered significantly from this. There is a matter of principle at play as well I will admit. It was a huge waste of money to make things worse.

Are you even from Ashland or do you just like to mouth off and insult others?
