How badly do we want this kid in our recruiting class this year? He's a DE/TE from Oxford. His uncle told me a couple of days ago that he badly wants to play at Mississippi State and his family, extended family at least, wasn't real thrilled about that. Just curious how hard we are recruiting him.

Not at all isn't accurate

Not very hard is better. Xay is a real good hs player who is just down our board right now. A lot would have to happen. If he wanted to walk on we take him in an instant

That's kind of what I was thinking. I knew I hadn't seen him talked about much. I think he is the kind of kid that would have been given a shot in Mullen's first year.

What's the connection to Derek? There's no way they both have a funky last name like that and aren't related.

That's a pretty common last name in the Batesville - Oxford area...

Though most pronounce it PIG-ease instead of puh-GEESE.

do you mean Aeris Williams from West Point?

If so, you are correct. He is a baller.

That's because the family pronounces it PIG-ease. Only time I've ever heard it as puh-GEESE was from our media department, and I grew up in Batesville. Someone just couldn't stand that it wasn't pronounced phonetically like it's spelled is the only thing I can figure.

Yeah, I think Pegues is the most common name in Lafayette and Panola county.
