I sent my xbox 360 to microsoft two years ago to fix the red ring of death... it has now come back, and microsoft although they "fixed" it..won't fix it again...for free. Anybody ever sent theirs to a third party? Thanks for any help

They aren't expensive enough to send off to get fixed. If your 360 is old, you can get a much better model (they redesigned them and they don't have the ring of death) with more memory at a decent price.

There are tutorials online, some are free, about how to fix it yourself. It's not a piece of cake, but doable.

8 times. Go online and click that you have the red rings. They will ship you a prepaid box for free. The rings will forever be under warranty. It's easier to do online than dealing with a tard on the phone.

I have a friend who did it on their own and he's a very tech savvy guy, but in the end it just screwed up his Xbox for good. Send it in. Pay the money. And if it happens again (it probably will) you will get your next fix by Xbox done for free.

Fixing it the first couple of times to me was entertaining. Each time the fix worked shorter and shorter. I ended up buying another.

and it would work for a while. the first time it probably worked for a month. but as someone else said each time it worked for a shorter amount of time each time i did it. had to buy a new one and haven't had any problems.

You have to take the whole damn thing apart and pull off the sticky heat
sinks on the bottom of the motherboard. Take the 8 pennies and stack
them in 4 sets of two, wrap them in electrical tape. You can get some
silicone based thermal paste for a few bucks at radio shack, replace the
heat sinks with the pennies, reassemble, and you're good to go. I
bought one with the red rings off ebay for a few bucks, fixed it like
this then took it to gamestop.
